bankroll builder hi i have watched the videos. Here below is hand that i have saved from my play money full ring game. this table 1/2 was super loose with maniacs all over. i raised from middle position with 89 in the hole, to 5 BB as there was one limper. the pot was re raised big with one caller. this is holding is a insta fold for me but i pressed the wrong button by mistake and called. nevertheless, the flop came K8K rainbow. as half my stack was already committed, the raises meant little, (re raiser showed 45s), i shoved the remainder of my stack. also as there were 2 kings on the flop with a 8, i assumed that the probability of the one the opponents holding a king slim. was my assumption valid? i have passed the poker basic quiz. whats the next step. thanks for your time. po8tic

          Hi,

          Hand Analysis

This is a hand that I would not be trying to isolate with, I'd be looking to only do it with semi-strong to extremely strong value hands. The majority of the time we will flop 2nd pair on a lot of board textures and we'll rarely feel comfortable betting that hand for value or calling bets unless we have flopped some equity to a straight draw plus a pair, so I'd avoid playing inflated pots with these mediocre holdings. Generally a limping range is perceived as a weak range and this mediocre hand does have some hot equity versus a lot of limping ranges, we'd need really specific reads on the villain to be trying to isoalte with this hand..if they are loose passive post flop or tight passive then yes we'll have some barreling opportunity to pick up dead money in the pot

Misclicks are bound to happen, let's just hope it won't happen to often at the real money tables as that may become very costly! LOL

I like your thought process throughout this hand, taking card removal into account on the flop, it is indeed very unlikely the villain is holding a range of Kx so it would be safe to discount that range. You will do well at the real money tables and I'm here to help you along the way!

          Hope this helps.

          Kind regards,
          CannonLee

            Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

            Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

            1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
            2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
            3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

            Best of Luck!

hi cannon lee i have watched the video and passed the cash game course. i played the 1c/2c full ring game. good news is that play is more predictable. i ran into this situation : table was on the tight side with not too much going on. hence i loosened my starting hand requirements and played one hand in all positions (ONE hand in late, middle and early). i had good fold equity and stole in every position. i did get sum good action. here ii had QQ UTG and raised 4 x BB amd was called a player in middle position and the SB. FLOP Q3K rainbow.A MONSTER. here i bet less than half the pot so not chase away Kx and to give the imppression that i missed. most of the showed down hands previously were connectors and Ax Kx with small kickers. player in MP called and SB folded. TURN 4 with now two hearts on the board. i bet 75 % of the pot and was called. At this point i put the villain on Ax or meduim pair but leaning toward meduim / small pair. RIVER 6h now three hearts on the board. i bet half the pot and the villain shoved. i called and and he showed A 10h for the ace high flush. SICK! i sat out caus i felt i was gonna tilt and reflected on that hand and discovered the ffg: 1. my play right to the flop was fine. 2. i gave the opp the right odds on turn to call my bet and he made out. i should have over bet the pot and checked if the flush card hit the river. i could have called a smaller bet but unlikely. 3. i made the wrong call on the river and lost a further 50 BB when i put the villain on that possible holding. what other input could you give me about my play? thanks.

Hi po8tic! Thanks for posting your thoughts on the hand. That helps us help youumbup: Let's take a look at your hand. You get an early position raise to 8 and a caller. You are in bad position in the blinds but you have a good starting hand. Note, big pairs play best against a single opponent since with multiple opponents straights and flushes become more likely. Calling as you did is ok, but it turns your hand into a speculative hand where you will have to fold on a lot of flops. 3-betting would be a much better line preflop in this spot. Make it 3x the raise plus 1x for the caller, or 32 cents. This may win the pot now, or you should get at least one fold. (This is a squeeze play). 3-betting thus gains you more value AND protects your hand. As played, you flopped a set. Now we want to get as much value as possible out of the hand. At 2NL the best way to do this is to value bet every chance you get. On this board, there is a good chance that the Q or K helped at least one opponent. There are also several draws offered with 10J, A10, AJ etc. I would recommend betting at least half the pot, but preferably 70%-80% of the pot. This again gains you value AND protects your hand. You played the turn well.umbup: On the river, a flush just became possible. Either this helps your opponent or scares him. If it scares him, he will fold to your bet which means you are unlikely to win more from him. If it helps him, then you are losing more than necessary. When he raises you, you can be very sure that he has a flush. Folding is the best. A better river line would be to check the river. Now you can consider calling a smallish bet. Many villains will bluff in this spot thinking that the flush scared you. They will make a small bluff bet. Sometimes they will have the flush but this line keeps the villain's range wide and minimizes your losses. I hope this helps! GL and have fun at the tablesumbup: Roland GTX
