Hi tiltkasaken?! The first thing that I see with this hand is that it is from a 6-max table. This promotion is ONLY for FULL RING tables. Once you receive your first bonus, playing anything other than 2NL FULL RING tables will make you INELIGIBLE for all future bonuses in this promotion. With 89s from the SB, I get 3 limps in front of me. I'm going to call behind here and hope to hit the flop, as I can have a very concealed hand. There is also no problem with raising here, but if I raise, I need to make a standard raise, which is to 3BB+1BB for each limper. With 3 limpers, I need to raise to 5BB or 100 chips. I do not want to raise to less than this, as I can then be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me. I hit 2nd pair on the flop and since I raised preflop, I will make a c-bet on the flop. The key is the sizing of it. Post-flop bets need to be based on the pot size, number of opps and board texture. With 3 opps in the pot, I need to bet 3/4 pot (255 chips). I cannot bet less than this, as doing so can give any opp with a draw, the correct odds to try to outdraw me. If I give the opp the correct odds and they do outdraw me.. it's my own fault that I lose the hand, as I made a bet where the opp expects to gain chips from me by calling. I see a turn 10 heads-up, and since the opp called a flop bet, I need to check on the turn for pot control. The opp should have something and if they have a 10, I'm now drawing dead. If I did make a bet, I would need to bet 1/2 pot (310) and I do not want to do this if I can easily be behind. The river is a blank and since my hand does have showdown value, I'm going to check and hope to get to a cheap showdown. If the opp makes a small bet, I'll call. If they make a large bet, I need to fold. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                  Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                  1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
                  2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
                  3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

                  Best of Luck!

Step 1. GOOD FOLD ? OR BAD FOLD ? thank you admins

                    • #11
                      Step 2.

A player may want to make a big bet:
to put a lot of pressure on opponents
to bluff people off decent hands
to gain value from very strong hands
                      to protect against strong draws

Hi tiltkasaken?! I'll take a look at the hand in post #10.

It's folded to you in the SB, where you raise 22. This is standard. The BB will fold pretty often. This time, however, he re-raises. I would fold right now. The BB has position on you, which will make it very hard to get paid off if you flop a monster. With 22, you're just set-mining, as you can't call down with an underpair. Since you need to call 10c, but you'll rarely flop a set, I think saving your chips for a better spot makes sense.
As played, you call and the flop comes AAA. You flopped a full house, but it's the worst one possible. It's unlikely that villain flopped quads, but his pre-flop raise indicated he had a decent pocket pair or big ace, so you're basically never winning here. I think you made a great fold. Many beginners would think "I have a full house" and end up losing their whole stack. Well played!

                        Hope this helps!
To get more tuition on cash game basics, I recommend going to live training sessions for the Wednesday and Saturday Games if you can. You'll even be able to play alongside other PSO members in the Homegame club and get instant feedback on the way you play your hands. Good luck!
