Hi Bobeems! The first tip that I would have for you is that whenever you sit down at a ring table, to always wait for the BB to start playing. Paying extra blinds over and over will be a huge drain to a player's bankroll. With Q9s from mid position, I get a standard raise to 8k from UTG+1. While this hand does have some potential, it's not a strong enough hand to call this raise with, especially with players behind that could have position on me. I would call this with QQ or AQ, but any other hands with a Q, I would muck here. If I saw the flop (which I would not), I would see that I hit top pair with a marginal kicker. The same opp that raised preflop, now makes an abnormally large bet. A standard bet for this player with 2 opps in the hand is 2/3 pot. While I do have top pair, it's a marginal pair with a marginal kicker and due to this, I need to fold on the flop. This opp could easily have an overpair and due to not knowing that I have the best hand, I need to fold and save my chips for a better situation. I definitely do not want to make a smaller than standard raise, as a standard raise with 2 opps would be a 2/3 pot raise (60k). A smaller raise than this could give an opp that has two clubs the correct odds to draw and if I give them the right odds to draw and lose, it's my own fault that I lose the hand. Yes, every hand in poker can get lucky, but by not getting my chips in when I'm ahead, I will lose a very large number of chips over time. The key with this hand is to muck a marginal hand preflop. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

            Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

            Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

            1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
            2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
            3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

            Best of Luck!

Hi Bobeems! You played this hand fine, and aggressively postflop. However, just be sure that you don't over value top pair hands in spot like this. Notice firstly that you have a very weak kicker. Many beginners lose big pots to opponents with better kickers. Secondly, there are multiple opponents in this hand which increases the likelyhood that the board helped someone. Finally, the board is connected and the turn card makes a flush possible. Betting thin on the flop as you did can be good. And following through with a second barrel on the turn looks very strong. Just make sure you don't get married to your hand if you encounter much resistance. Had the villain raised your turn bet, you need to fold. Had they called you need to be vey careful on the river. You played this hand nicely, Im just making sure your reasoning for playing it the way you did is on track GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX
