Hi DoMmZz! IMPORTANT: Please stick to 9 man Full Ring tables for the remainder of the promotion! it will help you learn the funtamentals AND make it easier to be profitable Limping along from the btn with 10Jo if great here. I think you should fire a 50% pot bet on the flop though. Since everyone limped pf then checked the A high flop, it is likely that no body has an A. You can most likely make a value bet here. ; however, you bet more than pot sized! This is not a good idea. Far too often it will get you value owned (especially once you get to real money.) This means all the hands you are beating will fold which results in you winning smaller pots. Whereas only the hands beating you will call which results in you losing bigger pots. To be a winning player you want to do the opposite. Win big ones and lose small ones Once you get two pair on the turn you want to bet about 70% of th pot. This will protect your hand from the draws AND get you value. You bet was a bit small. Nice job playing it safe on the river. Keep an eye on your bet sizes in the future. GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX

Excellent! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! umbup:

Hi DoMmZz! I'll take a look at the hand in post #10.

In this hand, you have AA in the small blind and the action facing you is a limp and a raise. Re-raising is definitely the right move, as you want to get value when you're sure you're ahead, and you want to seize the initiative, because it's easier to make money when you have the betting lead. I think your re-raise is too small. A standard size for a raise is three times the current bet, plus another multiple to account for any limpers/callers. I would generally go with around 20c in this spot. The problem with only making it 15c is that villain will still have good pot odds to call with a suited connector or small/medium pair. When you have the best hand, you want to bet the most that worst hands will still call.
As played, you make it 15c, the limper folds and the initial raiser calls in position. The flop comes 976, which is a terrible flop for AA, because if villain has any middling cards, he connected with it. He'll often have a set, two pairs, or a pair plus draw with 88 or T9 or something like that. Betting is your only option. You can certainly get called by worse. Villain is always peeling with hands like JJ/TT, for example. If villain raises, then you might have to give up, because you'd be in terrible shape if villain has a set. Since this is a 3-bet pot (you re-raised pre) the pot is already big and the remaining stacks relatively small, so a standard bet size would be just over half pot. Your bet is actually a little small. When villain folds, it's because he totally missed, either with overcards like KQ, or an underpair like 44. Don't be tempted to bet too small in the hope villain will call. If you bet too small, villain can call with draws. If he has a draw, you want him to pay a premium for chasing it. That's how you get value for your strong hands. Here you dragged the pot, so you should be happy. I think you missed a tiny bit of value, as you probably could have got another 4 or 5 cents out of villain with a bigger pre-flop raise.

                        Hope this helps!
To get more tuition on cash game basics, I recommend going to live training sessions for the Wednesday and Saturday Games if you can. You'll even be able to play alongside other PSO members in the Homegame club and get instant feedback on the way you play your hands. Good luck!

                        Cheers,
                        Arty
