Hi AgileFox! With AK on the button, I'm going to make a standard raise, which is to 3BB+1BB for each limper. With one limper, I will raise to 4BB or 40. I want to keep all of my raises standard, as this helps to keep the opps guessing as to the cards that I'm playing. Players that bet more with better cards or less with weaker ones are basically turning their cards face-up.. something I want to avoid doing. I see a 3-way flop and hit top pair on a board with possible flush and straight draws. When it checks to me, I will make a standard value bet (bets post-flop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture). With 2 opps, I will bet 2/3 pot or 107 chips. The turn puts another flush draw out there and when it checks to me, with 2 opps still in the hand, I will once again make a 2/3 pot bet of 307. Once again, I'm keeping all of my bets standard, so the opp won't know whether I have a made hand or am trying to draw. The river card is a problem since an 8 makes a straight. When the opp checks to me, I'm going to check behind here and go to showdown, as my hand has showdown value, but I only have 1 pair. The opp here could have me beat with a straight or two pair and I do not want to give them an opportunity to check/raise me, because I'd have to muck to a raise. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Excellent! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! umbup:

Step 2 = done ! I've completed all 3 tasks: 1) 2) A player may want to make a big bet: -to put a lot of pressure on opponents; -to bluff people off decent hands; -to gain value from very strong hands; -to protect against strong draws. 3) Cash Game quiz = passed.

Hi AgileFox! I typically recommend folding preflop here for two reasons. Firstly, you are in the sb which is the worst spot postflop. It seems cheap to complete from the sb, but it is the most difficult spot to win from. So, the small amounts add up over time to be a big loss. Make sure you have a solid playable hand if you are going to play from the small blind Secondly, your hand is tough to play. You don't have a straight possibility like you would with a better kicker. Moreover, if you flop a K as you did in this hand, we risk losing a big pot to a player holding a K with a better kicker than your 8. So, we need to be careful with these hands. They can be profitable, but if you get a lot of resistance be prepared to fold. You definately don't want to commit your whole stack with top pair and weak kicker. As played, you played the hand well. Calling the small bet on the flop was fine and you got to the river cheaply. And, you won the handumbup: Just be very selective about playing marginal hands from the small blind. It will save you a ton in the long run. GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX
