Poker hand analyse so basically i really got confused by my opponents just Checking/Calling until the last betting round so i thought they either got bottom pair or bluffing even thought there was a potential flush. should i have folded this hand?

Hi AstraBasta! With A9 from UTG+1, I get two limps in front of me. I need to immediately muck this hand, as it is nowhere near a strong enough hand to raise with. If I had AQ, AK or AA (only aces I'd play here), then I would make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper... but the hand that I have is ace/rag and therefore I need to muck it. Just because I have an A or suited cards does not mean that they should always be played. Players that play too many marginal or worse hands (which this hand is) will leak off and give their chips to their opponents from playing too many hands. When playing poker, I want to be able to gain chips, not give mine to my opps. If I was in the hand (which I would NOT be), when I see that I flop top pair, I need to make a standard value bet. Post-flop bets need to be sized based on the pot size, number of opps and board texture. With 4+ opps in the hand, I need to make a pot-sized bet. I cannot bet less or I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me.. and if I do so and lose, it's my own fault that I lose the hand. Same thing on the turn, but now, since there are 3 opps, I need to bet 3/4 pot. When there is a raise and I'm in the hand 3-way with the flush draw hitting.. I need to muck, as one of the opps most likely has the flush. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Excellent! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! umbup:

Hi AstraBasta! Calling with KQo can be ok since you do have position on the villain. However, when the villain raises from ep we need to assign them a fairly tight range, unless you had a read on them. I would definately play KQs, but folding KQo would be fine too. As played, you miss the flop and it is checked to you. I would still assume the villain has a pocket pair or an Ax type of hand, both of which are beating you. I suggest checking your option and reassing on the turn. If you catch a K or Q then you may have showdown value. Notice though that you dont want to get crazy even if you flop a K or Q because the villain may have Ak or AQ giving them the better kicker. With KQs we are hoping to flop a draw to a straight or flush. With KQo we lose the flush options. It can still be playable but we need to be careful. Betting the flop gave the villain the chance to push us off the hand. Folding as you did was clearly correct. Good foldumbup: But, checking would have given us a free card. In general don't bluff at 2NL. Just stick to value betting with your strong made hands. GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX
