Hi chessplayer5! With AK (or any other hand that I want to raise with), I'm going to make a standard raise, which is to 3BB+1BB for each limper. With 2 limpers, I'll raise to 5BB or 50 chips. I see a 5-way flop on a board that is VERY coordinated (all clubs and many possible straight draws and even a possible made straight). When I get an opp that bets 90 chips, even though this is a much smaller bet than a standard bet (std would be a pot-sized bet with this many opps).. I need to muck. I want to be putting my chips into the pot when I'm ahead or when I'm priced in for a draw and here, even if I hit an A, K or J... I may not have the best hand. In these types of situations, it's much better to muck and wait for a better situation when I know I'm ahead and the favorite to win the hand. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

                  Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                  Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                  1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
                  2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
                  3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

                  Best of Luck!

                      bankroll builder

3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet:

To put a lot of pressure on opponents
To gain value from very strong hands.
To bluff people who have decent cards

Hi chessplayer5! I like chess tooumbup: There are several points with this 6d hand. Firstly, there are 5 open seats at the table! This makes playing very difficult. We ask you t o play full ring tables so that you have time to be patient and stick to good starting hands. Playing short forces you to play many marginal hands, such as this one, which require more experience. I suggest that you adjust the Filter in the Holdem lobby to only show tables with 8 players. That way when you sit down all the seats will be filled. That is what I do As for the hand, you have a pretty weak hand and no no read on the villain except that they limped in. Normally I would suggest check-folding hands such as this. Here with so few players, you can take a stab on the flop, or check the flop and make a 50% pot bet on the turn. Either way, you should normally check-fold the rest of the hand. At 2NL most players don't fold if they catch any piece of the flop. This allows us to value bet the heck out of them when we have strong hands. But, it also means we should never bluff because they just dont fold. Stick to tables where all the seats are filled, and try sticking to good startng hands for the time being. However, thinking about what the villain is thinking rather than just looking at your own cards is a VERY important part of becoming a winning poker player. You are moving in the right directionumbup: GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX
