Hi fcboss1! I'll take a look at the hand in post #4.

Firstly, there are several empty seats at this table. Try to play full 9-handed games, so that you can adopt a patient and disciplined style, because you won't be in the blinds so often.

In this hand, you have J9o on the button. This hand is marginal, but it has some speculative potential. If someone had raised, I'd just fold pre-flop, but faced with two limps, I think calling is just about OK, as you have the best position and good implied odds in a multiway pot. In a multiway pot, making one pair won't be enough to win, so you're hoping to make a monster hand like trips or a straight.
As played, you see a flop 5-handed, and it comes KT4. You just have a gutshot draw, so can't call a bet of half pot or more, as you won't have the right odds. Here, it's checked around, so you can see the turn for free. The turn is a queen, so you made a straight. Now it's just a matter of extracting value. The SB bets out and there are two callers. Raising is the right play, as you almost certainly have the best hand (only AJ is beating you) but you can get action from various one/two pair hands and draws. I think going all in is a bit excessive. When the action reaches you, there is 550 in the pot, so this is about the amount I would bet. Betting 550 is more likely to get called by worse hands (so you get value) and will mean you have the perfect stack size to shove all in on the river.
As played, you shove the turn, and everyone folds. I think you missed some value here, and it's all because of your overbet. When you make overbets, worse hands are likely to fold, but you need them to call if you are to make money in the long run. In future, when you have a made hand, try and bet between half pot and full pot, in order to get called by worse.

              Hope this helps!
To get more tuition on cash game basics, I recommend going to live training sessions for the Wednesday and Saturday Games if you can. You'll even be able to play alongside other PSO members in the Homegame club and get instant feedback on the way you play your hands. Good luck!

              Cheers,

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                      1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.

I had the best hand almost for sure, should have I checked? or the bet sizing was not good? I was a little afraid of a flush draw, so I don't know if I played well

                          We make big bets to

To get maximum value when we have strong hand
To bluff people when there is draw possibilities
To put a lot of pressure on opponents

Hi again fcboss1! I'll look at the hand in post #12.

You have AK in late position facing a raise by a player in early position. Since his range for that seat is pretty strong, I think flat-calling is best. If the raiser was in a later position, then you could re-raise (3-bet) for value and to take the initiative. There's a caller in the blinds and you see a flop of KT7. When the pre-flop raiser doesn't make a continuation bet, he usually missed, with a hand like QQ or JJ, but occasionally he'll be slowplaying a set of kings or tens. You shouldn't be "worried" about a flush draw, as such. You should see it as a way of getting value for your hand. I think it's good to bet here, because you can get called by worse kings, flush draws and straight draws (e.g. QJ). The pre-flop aggressor might even peel one off with an underpair, as he knows you're in great position to try and steal the pot. A bet of 3/4 pot for value is ideal, because it denies draws a good price, and also gets value from worse hands. Unfortunately, you get no action, but it's always nice to drag the pot without a contest. Nice hand.

                              Hope this helps!

                              Cheers,
