Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.

He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

            Cheers.

              Hi MNKBlackOps!

This looks like a tourney hand. Tourneys have different strategies than cash games. Once you receive your first bonus thru this promotion, playing ANY cash tourney will make you ineligible for any future bonuses in this promotion.

With AQ in the BB, I get 5 limps in front of me. I'm going to make a standard raise, which is to 3BB+1BB for each limper and with 5 limpers, I will raise to 8BB or 160. Since I'm out of position, I want to raise to try to get some of the other opps to fold, as playing post-flop will be much easier with less opponents in the hand.

I flop top pair/top kicker and when it's checked to me, I need to make a value bet. Post-flop bets need to be sized based on the size of the pot, the number of opps and the board texture. With four or more opps in the pot, a standard bet is a pot-sized bet, so I need to bet 120. I do not want to bet less than this, as the opps could then be getting the correct odds to call... something I want to avoid if at all possible. If an opp is going to call my bet, I want them to expect to lose chips to me by calling.

I now get an abnormally large raise that is called by another opp. A standard raise is to between 3X the previous bet (150) and a pot-sized raise (170). I'm going to call this bet, but need to proceed with caution, as this could be from a better hand (2 pair or a set).

The turn gives me two pair and I'm going to check to the raiser here. If I make a value bet, with two opps now in the hand, I would need to bet 2/3 pot. However, betting 600 is over 1/3 of my remaining chips, which means that this bet would pot-commit me. With this being the case, I would need to shove if I bet. I hope that the other opps will check behind and let me see the river card for free and then I can re-assess after seeing the last card.

The second opp now shoves and now I'm stuck in a bad situation. The flop raise could be a set, which has me crushed and since there wasn't a raise preflop (that 22 or 33 should fold to), that IS a part of their range. Situations like this is why I need to raise preflop, to avoid multi-way pots when I'm out of position. Whether I call or not is going to be based on my read of the opp (which at the beginning of a tourney I probably don't have one). If the opp is loose, then I'm going to call. If the opp is tight, then I'll muck. At the beginning of a tourney (unless it's a league game, where I'd have mucked to the flop raise), it's a real sticky situation, but I'm most likely going to call.

This is a good example of why to follow good bankroll management, a player needs to have 100 buy-ins in their bankroll... as I want to be aggressive and will lose some hands like this.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.: Thumbup:

P.S. Once you receive your first bonus from this promotion, playing ANY cash tourneys will make you INELIGIBLE for all future bonuses thru this promotion.

                  Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                  Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                  1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
                  2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
                  3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

                  Best of Luck!
