Had high pair at start of hand, Was the raise appropriate? After flop had a feeling of strong hand in comparison to other players. Was all my actions in this hand as you would advise?

Hi Shadowswar! With JJ from UTG, I'm going to make a standard opening raise, which is to 3BB+1BB for each limper. Due to this, I will raise to 150. I want to keep all of my bets standard, so that the opps are continually guessing as to the strength of my hand, as I will make the same raise with AA, 77, 33, AK, JTs or any other cards that I want to play. Players that bet more or less based on the strength of their hands are basically turning their cards face-up to an observant opponent, which is something I don't want to do. I also do not want to raise less, as doing this can give opps with marginal hands the correct odds to try to outdraw me, which is another thing that I want to avoid if at all possible. The flop brings an underpair and when it's checked to me, I will make a standard value bet. Post-flop bets need to be based on the pot size, number of opps and board texture. With 4 opps in the board, I need to make a pot-sized bet, so I will bet 500. I don't want to bet less than this, as it can give an opp trying to outdraw me the correct odds to do so. The turn is a blank and when the opp checks to me, I will make one more value bet. With only one opp in the hand, my standard size is 1/2 pot, so I will bet 450. Once again, I don't want to bet less, as I don't want to possibly give the opp the correct odds to try to outdraw me. If the opp had called this bet and checked again on the river, unless the river is a J, I would check and go to showdown, as only a player with a 10 should have called all of my bets. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
