Hello, I'm new to PSO after playing some freerolls and play money SNGs on PS and would like to take part in the bankroll builder promotion.

  • #2

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

    First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

    1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
    2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
    3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

    Best of Luck!

I have watched the 'Getting Started' video as well as the video about the Hand Replayer and have completed the Poker Basic Course Quiz. Here is a hand from a PLAY MONEY FULL RING game that I wanted some feedback on. Whilst I am not too concerned about how I played the hand I was wondering if the size of my 3 bet should have been lower or should I have gone all-in pre-flop?

Hi, Hand Analysis With two limpers ahead plus a huge 20x the big blind isolation raise from the big stack at the table, your 3bet sizing is just about right, it's going to give the villain either the right price to call and see a flop or spazz out with a wide range of Ax and quite possibly some pocket pairs, well played! If we went all in we could generate to much fold equity and get a weaker range to fold as well with a bigger sizing of 120+. umbup:

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

          Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

          1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
          2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
          3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

          Best of Luck!

Here's a hand that I think I played pretty badly all round, did I lose value? Did I get lucky?

Hi, Hand Analysis Did you have any specific reads on the villain that opened the action? I wouldn't mind 3 betting this hand for value if this villain has been playing extremely loose, plus this will accomplish thinning down the field and isolating that villains weaker range of hands while being at a positional advantage post flop. But on the other hand, our stack depth doesn't leave us to much room to maneuver post flop in terms of cbet bluffing in a 3bet pot without getting semi pot committed. So it would be safe to say that calling the villains 3x raise and taking a multi-way pot if other villains call behind us, will most likely land us with good implied odds depending on the board texture and overall bet sizes that we may have to call. The optimal line or rather 'approach' post flop should be a "fit or fold" strategy (flop equity to a flush or straight, pair + flush draw..etc..) Post flop, our bet sizing is just a tad to big, it's a rainbow board and any straight draw has very minimal equity versus our hand, I would have made my bet sizing 2/3 pot for value, but we need to keep in mind that there are still some Kx that may have us out kicked...and if I get raised I will consider folding (depends on the reads that I have on the villain raising). Nice pot! Hope this helps. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. In answer to the question from the bet sizing video about why a player might want to make a big bet:
                  1. To put pressure on opponents.
                  2. To bluff people off decent hands.
                  3. To gain value from strong hands

Of course 2 and 3 are highly dependent on your opponent's tendencies and previous actions, if he/she called your big bet bluff before then if you were to make a big bet bluff again he/she would likely think you are bluffing again, likewise if he/she perceives a big bet to be a value bet he/she would probably not call.

I have also passed the Cash Game Quiz.
