            Thank you

Thank you for the great lessons..I have completed step 1 and 2, but not sure about step 3. I passed the first 5 quiz earlier with 100% passing rate, but failed the 15 questions quiz with only 50% passing rate. Do I have to pass the 15 questions quiz to complete step 3?

            Thanks and regards

Hi jjw3009! The 15 question quiz IS what you need to pass. With JTo from UTG, this is a clear muck for me as it's nowhere near a strong enough hand to be playing from this position. If I had AK or a large pair, then I'd make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper, but any other hand I need to muck. I do NOT want to blindly shove my chips into the pot, especially with a marginal-at-best hand as this is more playing bingo than poker. When out of position, I need to much everything bad or marginal and I do not want to be all-in unless I have the best hand after ALL FIVE board cards are revealed. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Lost with 'Pocket Kings'. Do you think I should fold here?

Hi jjw3009! With A3s from UTG, this is an instant muck for me. Ace/rag hands, especially out of position are bad hands that I don't want to be playing at all, as they're too easily dominated. From UTG, I'm playing a TAG style and I'm only playing AQs+... I'm even mucking AQo. Another thing here is the bet sizing. Standard bets are what I always want to do, as it makes the opps continually guess as to the hand that I'm playing. A raise here is to 3BB+1BB for each limper. With no limpers, a standard raise is to 3BB or 90. This hand is not played in a tight-aggressive style, if I had to label the play, I'd use a MANIAC label. ---------- With QQ, I get a limp, shove and call of the shove in front of me. Once again, I'm going to make a standard raise here, hoping to isolate the player that shoved. Since there was a prior raise, a standard bet is to 3X the previous bet amount. Due to this, I'll bet 3*279 or 837 chips. I do not want to make abnormally large raises, as observant opps will pick up on these and exploit them. The flop brings a pair that hopefully did not hit one of the opps. I'm going to make a value bet here and once again, the key is to make it a standard bet size. Bets post-flop are based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 2 opps that can still bet, I need to bet 2/3 the size of the pot (2253 chips). I do not want to bet more or less than this, especially less, as I could be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me. The turn should be a blank and now with only 1 opp left with chips, I will make my standard value bet for this situation which is 1/2 pot (2890). I do not want to bet less than this, as if the opp has a spade flush draw, they'd be getting the right odds to call and try to outdraw me. I disagree on the right decisions statement, as the bets that were made are not standard bets for the given situation, so the decisions that were made are NOT the best decisions for the hand. ------------- With KK from the BB, I get a limp, then a raise in front of me. Once again, I am going to make a standard raise, which is to 3X the previous bet. Due to this, I'll raise to 3600. The opp then shoves and since this is a cash table, I'm going to call with KK here, especially if the opp was playing a high % of hands (if this were a tourney, depending on the tourney type, I could easily muck KK here too). One key that I need to use is to not be results oriented. What happens is going to happen. I want to concentrate on making the best decision for a given situation and that's it. After that, it's out of my hands. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)
