                  Hi Mejía!

QJ is a reasonable starting hand, but it's not a hand I want to play a big pot with unless I have top two pairs or a straight. In your situation, there's a HUGE raise pre-flop in front of you. You're being asked to call 96 when you only have 341 chips in your stack. You should fold here, because your hand is dominated by hands like AQ/AJ/KQ/KJ and is unlikely to hit the flop particularly well.

As played, you make the call and you see a KT3 flop 4-handed. Here you have an open-ended straight draw, which means you have 8 outs (aces and nines) to the nut straight. This is quite a strong draw, but you should only chase it if you get a cheap price, which is usually something like half pot. Villain bets 258, which is enough to put you all in. Now it's simply a matter of working out the pot odds and comparing them with the probability of making your straight. If the amount you have to contribute to the pot is lower than the chance you make your hand, it's a profitable call. Now let's do the math.
You have to call 243. If you make this call and no one else calls, then the final pot will be 387+243+243 = 873. Since you have to contribute 243 chips into this 873 pot, you're paying 243/873 = 28% of the pot.
Now we calculate the chance you will make the straight. Using the rule of 4 and 2, we will multiply your outs by 4 to see your chance of completing by the river. You have 8 outs, so your probability is 8 * 4 = 32%.
It's close, but you can actually make the call here. You need to contribute about 28% of the pot, but you'll win it 32% of the time, so calling is fine.
It turns out that you miss all your outs, so finish the hand with just queen high and lose the pot. Villain was over-aggressive with his A2, as he had no draw, but he did have the best hand on the flop (ace high beats queen high!) and got even luckier when he backdoored the A-5 wheel straight.

                  Hope this helps!
                  Cheers,
                  Arty

Brilliant! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! flophitter umbup:

Hello I want to know if I played this hand well KJ Reasons to bet 1.Protect a strong/very strong hand against very strong/monster draws by making the pod odds unfavorable for the villain. 2.Bluff your opponent of a better hand, for example on a dry board where likely noone of the few opponents holds anything. 3.Value Bet because you are most likely going to win the showdown. and complete the three steps I have to do more

Hi Mejía P KJo is strong enough to open with from late position, but I recommend folding it when facing a raise. It is not suited, nor is it fully connected. This reduces your chances of flopping well. Moreover, early postion raises are typically from strong hands and you are facing a 4bb raise rather than the standard 3bb. Additionaly, the risk of running into AJ or AK is very real here. Finally, your stack is pretty short. You are risking a bit too much of your stack on a marginal hand. As played, you flop top pair and have a decent kicker. This combined with your stack make raising all in as you did by far the best line. Well doneumbup: Try to wait for good spots preflop. It will save you money in the long run. GL and have fun at the tables! Roland GTX
