Hi Cobra smd! With JJ from the BB there are 5 limps. I'm going to make a standard raise which is to 3BB+1BB for each limper. With 5 limps, I'll raise to 8BB or 400. I want to keep all of my raises standard, so that the opps are continually guessing as to the cards that I'm playing. It also will hopefully help to get some of the opps to fold, as JJ plays much better against fewer opps. The flop misses me and contains an ace, which any of the opps could easily have, putting me behind. Due to this, I'm going to check the flop against this many opps. If I was heads-up, I could try making a 1/2 pot c-bet, but not against this many opponents. Luckily, they all check behind and I hit a set on the turn (although it also completes a straight draw). When it checks to me, due to the large number of opps in the hand, I will make a pot-sized raise of 1050. I want to get value for my hand and also would like for some of the opps to fold. I don't want to make a small bet here, as if multiple of the opps call, they can be getting the correct odds to try to outdraw me, which is something that I want to avoid if at all possible. The river is what should be a blank and here, I'm going to bet whatever I think the opps will call and will size it at just under a 1/2 pot bet, so I will bet 1000. If either opp raises, I'm more than happy to go all-in, but I don't want to have the opps fold and miss out on gaining extra chips from them. ------------ With J9o from UTG, I'm going to immediately fold this, as it's nowhere near a strong enough hand to be playing from this position. Playing marginal-at-best hands from early position is going to cost me a very large number of chips over time. Also, when I'm the first one into the pot, I either want to make a standard raise or fold, as open-limping is something that is very exploitable by observant and better opps, which will cost me a very large amount of chips over time. The reason for it is that observant opps will raise when I do this, as it's a tell that my hand is weak. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

Brilliant! You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job! Step Two Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you. Please watch the following video and answer the question below. List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet? Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this. So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus. 1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer. 2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it. 3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz. Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in. Best of Luck! flophitter umbup:
