Hi $TE4LTH! I'll take a look at the hand in post #4.

With 88 in EP, it's fine to make a raise. A standard open would be three times the big blind, but since someone has posted their blind out of turn, a raise to 40 is perfect. Raising pre-flop will sometimes win the blinds immediately, or at least narrow the field, which is something you want to do with a pocket pair, because the flop will often bring overcards. Unfortunately, you get called in 4 spots, but you get a great flop, hitting a set on 985.
When you flop a set, you should be betting and raising in order to try and get your whole stack in the middle, as sets are monster hands that deserve big pots. The small blind donks out with a bet of less than half pot, and the big blind calls. Raising is definitely the right idea here. Since the pot now contains 360 chips, I'd bet about that much, to get value from worse hands and draws, and to set up an all in shove on the turn. Here you made it 220, which is OK, but you don't really want multiple callers of this bet, as sets are vulnerable to flushes and straights. Always be aware of the size of the pot, and bet close to that amount when you have a big hand.
Villain 5 cold calls your raise, and villain 9 goes all in. Calling all in is the right play for you. You got all in as a big favourite with your set. The player with bottom pair made a terrible call, but he was lucky enough to get a runner-runner straight to drag the pot. You were very unlucky, as this villain only had about a 5% chance of winning when he put his stack on the line.

                Hope this helps!
                Cheers,
                Arty

                  Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                  Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                  1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.

                  2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.

                  3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

                  Best of Luck!

Hi, Hand Analysis Generally a limping range is perceived as a weak range, our hand will play well versus a limping range. I'd make my raise sizing 3x the big blind +1bb for each limper, this is to isolate the villain for a heads up pot, we'll have positional advantage on them post flop. Post flop, I like the 1/2 pot continuation bet for value, it's a dry board texture and we could get reverse floated by a range of Kx and Qx high card. Turn, the board double pairs, we can now discount these cards from the villain range as they are present on the board. I like the check on the turn, we have strong showdown value versus the ranges mentioned above. The river, we could elect to check back this river or bet 1/2 pot for super thin value! Well played! I like what I see! Hope this helps. Good luck and good decisions, CannonLee
