              Hi MissCharmer! There are two things before I go into the hand. This promotion is ONLY for full ring cash games. Once you receive a bonus, if you play anything other than FULL RING (9 player tables), you will make yourself INELIGIBLE for earning any further bonuses. Also, I see that when you sat down at the table, you paid an extra blind to start playing immediately. When sitting at a cash table, always wait for the BB, as paying the extra blinds will be a very large drain to a bankroll over time. With 78o from UTG, I'd like to fold here and would in any other situaiton. However, since the blind was already paid by posting, I'll check and hope to see the flop without having to call another bet. If any of the opps raise, I'm folding. I flop bottom pair in a 4-way pot. Especially with there being an ace on the board, I'm most likely not the best hand here. If I thought that I was the best hand, I'd be 3/4 the size of the pot due to having 3 opps, but since I'm most likely not ahead, I'm going to check and hope to get a free turn card. If any of the other opps makes any sizable bet, I need to muck my cards. The same thing on the turn and river. They are total misses for me and since I probably don't have the best hand, I need to check and hope to get to showdown without putting another chip into the pot. I want to be putting chips in when I'm ahead, not when I'm very easily behind. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

                You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

                Step Two

                Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
                Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

                List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

                Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

                So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

                1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
                2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
                3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

                Remember to only play the FULL RING 1/2 cent tables only - playing any others will make you ineligible to continue in this promotion.

                Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

                Best of Luck!

                    3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet:

                    *to put a lot of pressure on opponents;
                    *to gain value from very strong hands;
                    *to protect against strong draws.

                          Hi MissCharmer! Let's take a look at this latest hand.

                          Here's you've paid the big blind before seeing your cards. Don't do this. Always tick the box "Wait until big blind before being dealt in". Since you'll be folding more than 80% of hands, it's a big leak to pay money for hands that could be junk.
                          Here, you've got 87s in early position. This hand is OK to call a raise with on the button if you're deep stacked ("drawing hands" require deep stacks for you to win big pots when they hit the board hard), but if anyone raises pre-flop, you should fold in this seat.
                          No one wants to play this time, but the big blind checks his option and you see a flop. The big blind can have literally any two cards (ATC), so it will be hard to know if you're ahead.
                          A 964 flop is pretty good for you, as you have an open-ended straight draw (OESD), but some of your 8 outs would also make a heart flush possible, so I'd play cautiously here.
                          Villain bets out for 6c. Six cents might not sound like much, but it's a pot-sized bet, which usually indicates a strong hand; at least top pair, but maybe 2pr, a set or a strong draw. I definitely want to call here with an OESD, but if we don't improve on the turn, I don't want to be calling any big bets, as there will only be one more card to see.
                          So you make the call and the 5d hits the turn. This is good, because you now have the nut straight, but it's bad because a flush is also possible.
                          When villain checks here, I definitely like a bet. We've made our hand, but it cannot get any better. It can only get relatively worse. If villain has a set or 2 pairs, he's scared you have the flush, so betting could get him to fold hands that could still improve to beat you. It's not a bad thing if he folds to a bet, because hands like 2pr or a set still have outs to a full house. In addition, if villain just has one card with a heart, then he could still make a flush on the river. So you should bet your hand to get value from worse hands, and also to charge the draws.
                          Checking behind allows villain to see a river card for free. The 5 of hearts is a bad card. Now that the board has paired, it's possible villain has a full house. When villain checks, it's possible he really has nothing and that his flop bet was just a bluff, or he may have one pair (an overpair like 77, or A6) and is worried you slowplayed a flush or just filled up. I'd sometimes make a small value bet here, hoping that hands like 77 and A6 make a crying call, but I'd be a little suspicious that villain may have us beat and plans to check-raise, so checking behind isn't a bad idea, as you'll get to see a showdown and win the pot a fair proportion of the time.
                          Here villain flopped two pairs, but got counterfeited on the river (the pair of 4s no longer counts), so his hand would lose to any better 6, 5, 9 or pocket pair 77+. Your straight held to win a nice little pot.
                          I think there was more value to be gained by betting the turn for value and protection, but you played this hand OK.
                          In future, you should avoid playing hands like 87s in early position, because you'll get into spots like this, where you just don't know if your big hand is actually beaten by a bigger one.

                          Hope this helps! A moderator will tell you about the next stage of this promotion.
