Hi tfcownerz! You are eligible for the Bank Roll Builder promo!umbup: The next thing that you will need to do is to attend one of the 'Getting Started With Pokerstars' live training sessions. Please let me know after you have attended this session. Also, you can be practicing on the play money NL ring tables and please post a hand that you were not sure about, using the hand replayer. Here's a short video on how to use the Hand Replayer

Hi, early today i did getting started live training session, as well as the cash game and bet sizing sessions as well. Infact i heard of the bankroll builder promotion through the chat of the getting started session. Do i need to retake the session because i completed it before i started this promotion?

While i understand limping is normally not a good idea, i decided this was a speculative hand and i was in good position, as well as the table i was playing on kept letting people limp in and no one but me was really raising pre flop, though this could have been wrong. Once the turn hits i thought people either didn't have anything or they had drawing hands so i decided i wanted to pretend i had a jack, but i dont know if i bet the right number cause i needed to be able to bet enough to scare away the players with flush draws like what i think the guy who calls me ends up having and he hits it. Should i have bet more to make him more weary of trying to make his hand, or should i have bluffed here at all?

Hi tfcownerz! If I'm going to play a speculative hand from the button, I'm going to make a standard raise with it and raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper. This way, I can try to thin the field and since the opps will normally check to me on the flop if I take the lead in the hand, that then gives me options on how to proceed with it later. Due to this, I'll raise to 50. By limping and playing passive, I obtain no information about any of the opps hands, which is information that I will want to use later in the hand too. The flop is a total miss and here is why a raise preflop is better. If I had raised preflop, then made my standard c-bet on the flop which for this type of board and number of opps is a pot-sized bet (due to the flush draw and many opps in the hand), then anyone that didn't hit the board should fold and I'll win the pot right now due to having the lead in the hand and position... even though I missed. The turn pairs the board and everyone checks again. If anyone had called my raise preflop, then bet on the flop, I'm going to check behind here for pot control. Making a large bet here is not what I'd consider if I did not bet the flop. The reason for it is that it just does not look right. I'm trying to tell the opps that I have a J... but if I had a J, I'd have bet the flop with top pair.. it just doesn't make sense. If I'm the opp and see someone make a play like this, I'm calling with any A, any pair or any two overcards, as the previous plays in the hand don't look right and don't make sense, so it's most likely a bluff. Whenever I'm playing a hand, I want to have my actions tell a consistant story. I don't want to play very passive, then all of a sudden be aggressive, or visa versa, where the action is not warranted. Also, at the lower table amounts, bluffing will not accomplish much. There are too many calling stations, etc.. that will never fold. Due to this, unless I'm up against an opp that I know and have many notes on, I try to avoid bluffing, as I'll just be throwing chips away. When the opp bets the river, I absolutely have to muck, as I do not have a made hand. Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

              Hi tfcownerz!

Now we want to get you playing on the real money tables. Next up, and spend some time on this one , study the Poker Basic Course and take the basic assessment quiz at the end of that course.

Once you have passed this quiz your first buy-in will be credited into your account within 24 hours of passing it. Remember you can earn up to a total of $8 with this promotion.

Use this first buy-in to then play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables only on PokerStars. Post back here when you get your first buy-in and start playing these games and we'll continue on from there.

                  Hi tfcownerz!

Congrats on passing the quiz. Your first buy-in will be credited into your account within 24 hours. Remember you can earn up to a total of $8 with this promotion.

Use this first buy-in to then only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Don't worry if you lose this first buy-in as you will be able to earn another buy-in should this happen.

Use all that you have learned so far to try some real money games (1/2 cent tables). Post any hands that you have difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze them for you.

Also, please attend the 'Bet Sizing' live training session. This session can be found daily in the Live Training section.

Please let me know when you receive the buy-in and attend the training session.

Yes, for sure .. this would have been all explained in the 'Getting Started' session so you should already know how to do this. If you email support@pokerstars.com and ask them to send you your hand histories for all the cash game hands you played on the date you want they will happily send it to you. Then you just need to find the hands where you lost the money and post it here in this thread using the hand replayer. Once you do this we can continue on from there. Raiser umbup:
