pecheurs; you got it absolutely right before I saw this post. Joe is certainly the best KNOWN Australian poker player - his WSOP win kicked-started the dreams of 100,000 aspiring Australian poker players and the Australian live (pub & club) poker leagues, many of which are still thriving 10 years later.

Joe's brother Tony Hachem is also a well known player on the Australian Poker circuit, consistently turning good results. It is said he introduced Joe to the game, and mentored him in his early years. I believe Tony still plays regularly, but Joe now focuses his attention on the lending business he established from his poker bankroll. I wish him continued success in whatever he does.

Is there any prizes for answering? I have played heaps of poker with Joe and Tony since there is only 1 casino in Melbourne. Before Joe won the WSOP we couldn't event get 1 table started of NLH back then we had to play 2/3 card Manila now you walk into the Melbourne casino and there is 45/50 tables going at once.
Amazing what 1 players win can do.
I wish him all the best as he is a top bloke.
