  • Poker is OFFICAILLY coming to Maryland...

With 98% of the votes tallied Question 7 on the Maryland ballot---to expand casino gambling to include table games (poker,blackjack,etc...) the ayes are 52%,the nays 48%. No more grey area,no more BS. Poker in the existing casinos very soon and to me the best of all Harrah's will now start construction on the lot they have already procured in downtown Baltimore, near the Camden Yards stadium complex (where the Orioles and Ravens play...)which puts the casino, when it's finished, near several new, first rate hotels, our Convention Center and a short jaunt from our world renowned Inner Harbor. Could be a very big thing for the state and the city. And myself,Jordan and Rockerguy are all doing the Snoopy happy dance...umbup: Oh,and some dude named Obama got re-elected to something as well...

Just googled Maryland ballot and all the headlines were of same sex marriage - so I guess it was a wide ranging set of questions. Happy for you Moxie, enjoy your poker - and whatever lifestyle choice you make. - I might even have a go at the Snoopy Dance - though my only reference for that is Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer - (where the demons play poker for kittens) so at least my cultural studies course wasn't a complete waste of time. Mox,

If you're playing at any Caesars owned casino (Harrah's included), make sure you get and use a Total Rewards card each and every time you play... you'll rack up some pretty serious comps.

LOL,you're a Buffy fan and you're questioning MY lifestyle choices???!!!

No,you're right we also passed Ballot Question 6 here last night, which made Maryland the first state in the union to pass,by a voter referendum,a measure guaranteeing the right for all to be married, regardless of sexual choice. It actually passed in 2 other states as well last night and Minnesota voted down a measure that would have amended their state constitution to make gay marriage constitutionally illegal. Keep in mind that such measures had been defeated 31 out of 31 times previously when state's had let their voters make the call. So a big night for advancing civil rights to all here in the US.

My girlfriend's youngest brother is gay and I know what this means to him and to her as well. For myself, well I'm pretty much a hardcore social Libertarian---keep the government out of all personal choices---so while it doesn't affect me directly,I'm proud to say that I'm from the state that was the first to pass marriage equality.

Oh yeah, familiar with the rewards program. Defo be taking advantage of that.

If we are still not back online by the time the casino in downtown Baltimore opens in a year and a half (maybe, hopefully less...)I'm probably gonna be there so much that they'll let me have my own personal chair.

As for the existing locations now being able to offer poker...meh,I'll play there every once in a while but I would really want to be looking for a regular gig kind of deal and the coming downtown location combined with real pros being behind it fits the bill for me. The other joints, not so much. But in the interim they'll do.

Still wanting back online first and foremost though,as we all are I'm sure.

Can't roll out of bed and within 5 minutes be playing a handful of SNG's whilst munching on a bowl of Wheaties and in your PJ's at a casino after all.

Eff's gonna be the bride.(Can't believe he says he's gonna wear white though...).

Gonna watch the Molson's intake for him at the reception, too many and he can forget about me carrying his azz over the threshold.

Ya Dano has a stake in this as well for sure. Once the National Harbor location in PG county opens that should be a good spot for him. Until then it's a bit of a schlep for him to get to the existing locales, but not that bad.

Haha yes been doing the snoopy dance ever since it was passed. I'm 25 and this is the first time I have voted. Question 7 was the main motivation I had to actually go and do it!

It is about a 20 minute drive from my home to Maryland Live! Casino. I am definitely planning on hanging out there a lot once they get things rolling. Should only take a few months from what I hear.

I'd rather be playing on Pokerstars (come on guys what is taking you so long?), but live play is an entirely different experience so will be happy to have access to that as well.

                  Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooot!!!!!!!!!!

                  I say,I say...WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!

As of yesterday the casino for the downtown Baltimore location (which is the one I really care the most about...) will no longer be a standard Harrah's casino.

Instead Caesars' is going to make it a higher-end Horseshoe brand casino. Meaning that the focus of the casino will be much more centered on the poker room and other table games (blackjack, roulette, pai gow....)than it will on slots (though there will still be slots of course...).

In yesterday's press conference they committed to a design that will cost $25 million more, add roughly 500 more jobs and include a World Series of Poker room and hosting series events.

                  S-E-X-Y.

They're saying that the casino will remain on target to open in mid-2014 and that they intend for it to be a destination spot for their East Coast brand.

Still want back on Stars first and foremost of course but this is really good news for my neck of the woods.

*dreams about living at the Horseshoe, working his way up from $1/2 nobody to $5/$10 kingpin.*

HA, anyways I forsee myself spending a lot of time in this place when it opens, and Maryland Live! before then. Still got my poker funds set aside from when I was hitting up Harrington's earlier in the year so I am good to go!

                        Rockerguy,

I've played in that room in Cleveland before, when I was back in OH a couple months ago. If they copy it for the one they'll build there, you're in good shape, because I thought it was one of the nicer if not maybe even the best poker rooms I've ever been in.

In the press release they mentioned that the poker room's in the Cleveland and Cincinnati Horseshoe's will be the template, but that there could be a few tweaks here and there over things they think they may be able to do better.

They really sound like they want to go balls to the wall on this facility and try to make this a destination location.

Nah.. they want a circuit event. AC has 2 of them now, they should probably end up getting 1 of them. I'll let you know what Cincy's is like, but that one won't be open until sometime next year.

Don't know why this bumped up for me on the "last posts" list but oh well. This is good news for me as well.... at least maybe. I'm in VA but historically the town of Colonial Beach was always a place for Virginians to play poker because casinos have always been illegal in VA but in the older days was in MD. Maryland owns the Potomac river so we have permanently docked boats for this activity since after we go out into the water we are technically in MD. I hope this means that the River Boat Club will have tables soon as CB is only 35 minutes from me. evil:
