The 1st Recorded history of Poker in NZ is from newspaper.(this is what i found so far, maybe earlier record!)

From gold fields of south Island, miner's cheating at poker (Text in yellow in link), so it seems that poker was brought to New Zealand by miner's that came from USA, after gold?
So poker has been in NZ for over 130 year's.
(I didn't now this, as i thought may of arrived here from USA service men during WW2)

And recorded in newspaper In my region.(10 years after originally been told lol)
    TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1874.Waikato Times, Volume VII, Issue 401, 8 December 1874, Page 2, http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi...0poker+cards-- (poker + cards,Text in yellow in link)

And there been few variety's of poker played in NZ too (100+ years)
