hey rob welcome to the forum mate,

Good advice, where to start there is loads on here.

You are definate going the right direction by studying poker and watching poker.

I suggest for a bit of fun if you have not all ready done so, to take the poker quiz on the forum.

I think you can find it in courses, but it will be off interest to you to test your knowledge of the game.

Secondly you may want to start watching the training videos on here if not all ready done so, and attend the live training sessions wich are very informative.

You may want to look at the use of software, such as a hud.poker tracker or similar, that keeps stats on the players you have played against.

You may want to consider asking about BR <bankroll management> which is in fact one of the biggest aspect of the game to consider.

All said and done, the best tip i can give you for improving is to ask questions, post hands in the analysis section and cross examine your own play.

There are 3 times of player

      recreational

      serious

      and professional

Proffesionals are the ones who stick to serious disipline

hope this helps need to know anything just ask

        cheers guys,

Yeah iv looked at alot of videos on here, i find chris moneymaker ones are good as he says why his doing stuff and also when he makes a mistake he says why he makes a mistake which is good for thought process.

Ill have a look at the quiz and yeah i definatly wanna get involved in the live training session im going to have a look tonight, i think there is one at 8 so ill check it out.

The HUD i havnt really got involved with alot, i see it as i dunno sorta cheating and in the long term i dont think it will help me, if i was at a casino i wouldnt have it so its just an easy way out by using it online.....if that makes sense.

        Thankyou for your replys.

            Hello Rob,
Like many others i never used a hud, but having recently used the free trial of HM2 have changed my mind.
The information HM2 gives you for both HUD use and analysis of your play after a session i have found invaluable. I dont think of it as cheating in any way, Pokerstars would not allow its use if it was, Thelangolier has a very good video on hud use and set up which you can find here
Dave has other video's on HUD use and many other topics which you can find here

I think that any edge we can get on our opponents is worth while. But i agree it's all a matter of personal choice.

            Regards

it's my opinion that the tracking software "behind" the HUD is the real real reason to to purchase them. i think the ability to review your play is the best reason even if you don't use the HUD portion of the software. and i do agree that most folks give too much credence to HUD info based on WAY too small sample sizes. but that's another subject. you can simply turn off the HUD if you wish.

The others beat me to it but the best part of my hud is the ability to go back and review a session to look at the sb stats (my BIGGEST leak) or just to see if AA was really cracked 52 times in a row (it wasn't but that one really sticks in the mind)

also at casinos they don't let you 6 table,

Did I hear correct that Danial Neugro was two tabling the world series???
