  • Hello all :) , and a question

Hey everyone , a little bit about my poker history. Im 18 been playing for about 5 years. I started playing by vsing my friend heads up for 2$ a game he would usually owe me about 10$ at the end of the day . I played online a lot around 16years old but could never win a freerole it left me wondering what i was doing wrong but it really felt like i was getting sucked out on every single time. But i dont think that was really the case :P. A couple weeks about i joined pokerschool online and have been learning a lot from the forum and videos. I won my first round 2 ticket from a "8-game" freerole 2 days ago . and have done well in the freeroles overall evry since i joined this site usually coming atleast in the top 1000 which is way better then i did before .

My question is that i am 18 and been waiting to turn 19 to make my first deposit. I live in Canada and that is the legal age to gamble. But i stumbled upon a forum that linked me to the pokerstars rules where it says you only need to be 18 to play real money. So is it legal for me to play real money right now on pokerstars in Canada? Thanks in advance for the help

I believe the answer is 18 or the legal age to gamble in your home state, whichever is higher. So I think you need to wait a bit longer, or move to Alberta. Pretty sure gambling age is a provincial thing.

Hi there Silken218, Firstly welcome to PSO, it's great that you are here! May I just point out that the Pokerstars rules on age requirement reads as follows: Q. How old do I have to be to play at Pokerstars? A. You need to be 18 OR THE MINIMUM LEGAL AGE to play online poker in your Jurisdiction, whichever is greater. Click here to find to the Pokerstars most FAQ's regarding responsible gambling. So, according to the information you have given, you will need to wait til' your next birthday in order to deposit for real-money games. Hope you enjoy the site and learn as much as you can from it. if you choose to play, and try and cash out stars will most probably deny the transaction and seize your $... so I would wait to play till you were of age

Welcome to PSO and the forum.
You can't play for real money until you reach the legal age for where you live or a minimum of 18 for everyone.
There is a lot to be gained from Poker School until you reach the minimum age and then you will have a great foundation and head start.
Please let us know if you have any questions after looking through the links raiser provided.

+1 umbup: Plus they can close your account and ban you from the site in the future. Wait until you're 19 to be playing (but that doesn't mean that you can't be studying until then).
