    Clarify.

Sorry i was so mad i wasnt clear,ok i was dealt AA near button and this donk goes all in ahead of me,now was i supposed to fold? Because everytime i start having a good game and am faced with a donk shove(someone with a bigger stack usually) if i have a monster hand i end up calling against my better judgement(better being 4-5times the BB)and.......SENT TO THE RAILS!!!

nice post tony i have never played in the skill league but the im sure the scoring system is the same for the open league. You are right are we meant to keep folding monsters early on to make sure we dont get sucked out on by some psychic player who pushes with air. if we all started with zero points at the start of a tourney and was rewarded with points for how long we lasted it would be a fairer playing field imo and a true test of skill. I wont be taking part in the open league this month for them reasons hopefully in time they will make some changes.

I can tell you, before even reading your hand history, that it is normal. 100% normal. In poker be ready for the good, the bad, the great, and the (disturbingly, unbelievable, sky-is-falling)ugly. It is all part of the package. The goal is to make better desicions than your opponents while you all ride the variance waves.

          Do not snap!!!

I rarely play these leagues anymore but when playing with a long term goal in mind, MONTH END and POINTS you must keep that in mind as you play. The first 10 days of every month worrying about or stressing over these types of plays arent worth it. Been there done that. All in is just a horse race and after the flop your high pair leverage is toast. You hope for the best and wait , there is no control left, you just wait. The other thing I had to learn was any card that I play no matter what the BOOK SAYS or anyone else it is MY CHOICE and when I make that choice I, me ,myself must live with it.

Tony, AA losing to KQ is rare in the Open, It normally loses to 3-8,4-9 off and i am not kidding. You HAVE to fold monsters at times in he open, your position is your guide and the CLOCK is your friend, trust me I know how to clock, look at my results this month in the Open it's all down to Time management and endless amounts of patience. That being said I have folded really well this month with style and great gusto....Good Luck.. Gate umbup:e.

just checked your results gate looks like you have your strategy spot on are you sitting out early or trying to chip up abit early on would be good to know. also i bet you are laying down some hands in spots u usually wouldnt. keep up the good work its made me want to play a few now and get some points on the board.

Early Alan i have folded KK, QQ etc, Crazy I know but If you play that crazy league you hve to develop an Anti-Poker style in the first 30 mins. i have helped a new guy Ledzepp000 in his 2nd go at the Open and he is now inside the top 200. Don't get me wrong I hate this type of poker and don't enjoy it but it helps the bankroll. Good Luck Alan.. Gate umbup:

your right its horribe early on and if your getting premium hands early on having to lay tem down. I played that strat last month and managed to cash but to many scores in the high end of 2000 meaning ther was no way i could push for a top 200 spot. Might try a few qualifiers this month instead if my br lets me

                        Same

Well, if you want some advice, never play pocket aces. out of the last 9 times i had them, I LOST THEM ALL! But talking about bad beats, i finally built myself a bit of money, so i sat at a table, flop a straight flush, and lose to a royal cause of the turn and river.

wise words man, going to stick those up on the wall, this is a beautifull game with many thrills and spills, but since comming here my game is getting better and having too many lists and tables and charts can take your focus away from studying your opponents, ultimately its them you have to beat and when the cards come out wrong, i smile cause my turn is comming.
