  • What could have been

Ok I play the open league and this is the first month iv played knowing how the point system works
at first i was doing good playing how i should be.

Then i starting getting sick of fold AK AQ QQ AJ and lots of other high card hand I like to play to
all in donks so I got fed up with it and started calling early in turnys and of course it was a bad thing to do.

I also just became lazy and not as motivated as i was at the beginning so I started missing alot of
games just sitting around doing other stuff on the comp

I had dont calculation before with my averages before i started losing and calculated how much games i would play and it looked promising so i dont know why i started to give up

I did some more calculation to see where i could have been at and this is what i came up with
of course i will concider a margin of error but it would not be much

    Games played 49

Games played properly witch I gained points 37 with 4 in witch
Were in the minus do to going all in becuase of low chip stack or I was blinded out

Games played wrongly where I had lost points due to being sick of all in dunk and being sick
of folding high cards so i made bad choices to go all in early in turny

my average games a day every day was 3 tell I became lazy and sick of the all in donks
as well as not paying attention to the time so I missed them

so I calculated that if I would have kept up my motivation and played properly i would
    have played another 11 games

here is the math I did and how i did it was i took the 37 games to add my average points
    witch was 22.01

    22.01 x 37 = 814.68

the 12 games i played poorly in that would have bben gaining points 22.01 x 12 = 264.12

    the 11 games i missed 22.01 x 11 = 242.11

    814.01 + 264.12 + 242.11 = 1320.24 + 1500 = 2820.24

I would have been at least in the top 10 for sure what do you all think

no. there's one key point to the scoring system you're missing.
The higher your point total gets, the less and less you'll get for an identical good finish in each game.
Also, the higher your total gets, the more you'll lose in a game for an identical bad finish.

I've had months that toward the end, it'll take over 4 ITM finishes just to make 1 bad finish get back to even.

Yes your right that would be my margin of error i give it around 200 points its says for having 2800 points i would have to get to 880 place in a 10000 man turny to start gaining points i would usally get to about 1000 so it dont look that bad i would still be up in the top 30

that does make sense though i would be fighting to stay in the top

it's probably more than that... would depend on the exact field strengths and the exact order of your good vs bad finishes.

When your score gets higher, you'll have to get to just before making it ITM.. to get pts.

Some examples taken from previous tournaments may help

            ........................Current Score
            Finish
            ...............2700......2600......2500.....2400.. ...2300......2200......2100
            900.......................2..........5............ 8...........11........14...........15...........18
            1000.....................0.........1.5..........6. ...........8.........10...........13...........16
            1100................... -3..........0............2.............6...........8 ..........11...........14
            1200................... -6........ -3............0............3...........6............ .7...........11
            1300.................. -8.5....... -6.......... -2..............0........2.2............6........... .8.8
            1400.................. -11........ -8....... -5.5............ -3.......1..............1.............3
            1500.................. -16....... -14......... -9............. -7........ -4........... -1.............0
            2000.................. -25........ -20........ -18......... -15...... -13.......... -11.......... -6
            3000.................. -35........ -30........ -28.......... -24...... -22......... -20........ -15

These figures are approximate but will help you to see that your logic is quite flawed, any points score of over 2500 means you have to finish in a relatively much higher position just to break even.
