  • chat etiquette/rules question

Is announcing your intent to raise all in before other active players have acted a violation of Pokerstar's tournament chat policy?

PokerStars Card Room rule #20 states:

“You may not make any chat comments which may affect the play of any hand or tournament, even if you are an observer. There are two exceptions to this rule:

    1. In cash game hands which are heads up (everyone else has folded, or the hand started with two players) the two players involved may chat as they wish.

    2. In tournaments which are heads up (everyone else has been knocked out of the tournament, or the tournament started with two players), the two players involved may chat as they wish.”

He thanked me for my helpful advice. Well, actually, no. He didn't.

If you want to wade through the HH's to find the chat, have at it.

Always amusing (sarcasm) how a third party (Tyrone) has to throw their 2 cents in too.

I would say this is definitely a violation...after all, isn't he trying to affect someone's play by the comment. Therefore it affects everyone who is in the tournament. That is exactly what the rule is about.

I think it is definitely a violation, I have played in many a freeroll where this type of thing has happened. Just the other day I was playing an NAPL shootout qualifier, when a player stated, "I need to leave I'm going all in every hand take my chips." The next hand the guy says, "I have 72" and goes all in, player in the BB calls him with A7 and sure enough the guy had 72. I'm not sure how to go about contacting pokerstars when this happens. Do you call for the chat moderator or send in an E mail?

You could call a mod at the moment...however, I feel it's better to send it in to chat@pokerstars.com or support@pokerstars.com . Make sure to include the hand history which will include all chat.
