  • Is it really worth the effort?

So, I've seen so many posts talking about how bad the PSO "Skill" league is, even posted one myself in the past. We've read PSO-Staff saying they're working to improve things... But really how much after-the-fact effort should really be made? Obviously there are those that aren't fully grasping the take-away value from PSO and the league tourneys so they're never gonna improve themselves and keep playing they way they do. So is there really a point to changing up the forum of the tourneys to try and combat these people? There still going to be those players like them in non-PSO tourneys that you're going to come across and have to learn how to play against. Is it not better to take those licks here in PSO tourneys where the cost of the learning curve for those trying to improve is much less?

What I think could be done is increase the level to actually qualify to get the PSO ticket. Whether that be a tiered ladder approach, making the quiz longer and harder, possibly a qualifier tournament, I really don't know I'd leave that to greater minds than me. The point is there are those that are already in, and there are those that will still get in and that's fine since we need to learn to play against those types of players.

Heaven knows I've taken my fair share of beats from them when I was confident to be ahead only to get rivered out of a hand. Hell I had painted pocket pairs hit on the flop after pre-flop raising get cut down like rags and painted suited connectors that were ahead get counterfeited just last night in the 22:00 ET tourney and both against the same player. I probably wouldn't have played the hands much differently if I had them to do again though maybe make it more than a 3BB raise pre-flop and make it a pot-size post-flop CBet rather than only 50% though I'm sure that would still get looked up regardless.

Terrible players playing poker is never a bad thing.

I think the 'problem' is the tournaments structure. 1500chips and 10 minute blinds makes luck more of a factor than, for example, a 3000chip 15 minute blind tournament. Try 5000 chips and 20 minute blinds, the terrible players would get devastated. Problem is, it would take all day to play

The only thing you can do is adjust your play for the semiturbo blinds. Take comfort in the fact that if you can do well at it you should be able to do very well in a normal blind structer and fair in a turbo. So it's kind of a good middle of the road training ground.
