  • Raiser's Regular Badugi Game

Hello All, Ever since playing in the PSO TCOOP Badugi game last week I've become really interested in the game. Also Cannon posted a very good post on the strategy behind >>Fixed Limit Badugi<< I going to run a regular Badugi Game at my home game club and invite anyone that's interested to come along and join in. It will be a Play Money game so my friends Stateside can join in. Between games we can use this thread to chat about game play, strategy and general stuff. If it goes well we might run a 'Alan Jones Shield' tournament for Badugi. Grade B was the winner of the last Alan Jones Shield competition back in 2011. Anyway, all welcome and all you have to do is reply here if you want in and I'll PM you with the Club ID and invitational code Cheers, Raiser umbup:

      Hey Raiser,
I would be keen to play.
But I think my poker time zone may not suit yours or others from US.
My normal poker time is 04.30 ET to 08.00 ET
I could play other times but prob not more the 1/2 hour games.

I'm interested too. I've played a few badugi tournaments from the freerolls, they're pretty fun. How much play money though? I don't play my play money account. I only have the starting amount.

Ah that's brilliant chuckky, thanks for that. I'm sure we can schedule a few games to suit all time zones Raiser umbup:

Cool Built-byTilt very much appreciated! The buy-ins will be small but if anyone needs some chips during a game I'd be happy to ship them some. Raiser umbup:

I stink at draw games in general but took a liking to Badugi when I've played some micro-stakes games, so I'm interested in this too. umbup:

Good to know the replayer also works for Badugi hands, thanks Cannon
Sorry, this hand was deleted by its owner

As I said before on my blog it could be a good decision to learn games like these and really specialise in them. There is a ton of information on NL but not so much in games like Badugi. For that reason you can become the Shark in these if you really put your mind to it.

I'm not an overly great Limit player but I play Limit STTs because there are a load of Blue Whales in these that play the game because they think it evens the field. If anything there's a bigger gap in these between me and the rest of the field.

Games like Badugi will have very few experts so your edge could be a lot bigger than you actually think if you become good.

I've no real urge to learn Badugi so I won't join the group but I think it's food for thought on what I said. Find a game your good at and specialise in it.

                        Good luck guys.

Yeah great advice hold em is so "over populated" its much easier to gain an edge in a lesser known format of poker these days i have a great recoed in omaha tourneys when compared to hold em (although satellited and won a couple of what I consider big scores in the past 9k and 12k plus a few smaller) for some reason I feel I have a bigger edge at omaha and 5 card draw yet still continue with hold em.... hmm iv just discovered a leak in my game !!!

(Must go check this blog of yours out seems I might have missed a trick !)

Back In The Good Old Days So here's an interesting dug out of the PokerStars TV archives! A video of when PokerStars crowned their first EVER Badugi WCOOP champion. Can't but notice that five of the final table are US players. Enjoy!
