  • Home Games in France now OK?

I recently saw a Tweet from a home games club in France. The last I heard home games were banned in France (don't know about "play money.") Does anyone have the latest info? Thanks.

Don't know what you're getting at. The French have their own Pokerstars (.fr) site. You won't find them on here.

Not as a rule. We have the same thing overhere in Belgium, if you go to "pokerstars" on the internet, you get Pokerstars.be. So you need to make sure you go to "Pokerstars.com" if you want to play poker without the goverment knowing.

I suppose it works the same in France.

In Belgium they even took it a step further, I need to register myself with the Belgian state in a state casino somewhere in Wallonia, a 500 km trip, which costs 5 times my BR in gas, if I want to play for money at pokerstars.be.

So excuse me for playing at Pokerstars.com.

Do you think so? On what ground?

There is no law that says that I have to play on Pokerstars.be instead of Pokerstars.com.

The Belgian state tried to ban all online pokersites from the net in Belgium, they tried to make it so that people from Belgium could only play at that shady French company. And then the EU-commision stepped in and trew all that legislation in the bin, there are Eurolaws against that.

              Clarification - French Club

I have applied for admission to the club (fairly new - 525-thousand plus) on PokerStars.net He says, on Twitter, that he is from Huby-Saint-Leu, France, and his club name is "French Poker Club du 62" - neither are proof that he is actually in France.

I have joined Canadian clubs that play for real money. But all I see is their "play money" games.

                  Pokerstars.com

You are correct, Bill, except USA players cannot legally play on PokerStars.com - That is why a number of US pros are taking up partial residence in Canada.

                    French Club

My membership was accepted, and I have posted the question of country on the club wall. The Clubs "Member List" shows that he is in Huby-Saint-Leu (France according to Google Maps.) Of course many clubs don't use the club wall, so I may not get an answer.
