  • Day 5 Aruba

9-28-04. I declare family day and there is no poker played. I finally manage to get my laptop connceted to the internet and post all of the stuff I have written and saved to this point. (Which is why the post dates are very close together)

My wife and I take our daughter and rental car and travel the entire island. What a beautiful and interesting place. The ocean looks EXACTLY like the "Azul" screen saver in Microsoft Windows XP. We picked up some cool T-shirts and other minor things as souveniers. The sand on this island is all very fine white sand. We refer to sand as white, but this stuff really is. It is so cool.

This place is like a who's who of poker. I have not gone out of my room for 30 minutes on any given day without running in to a known poker pro. In fact, Robert Williams III is staying 2 doors down from me.

Pro's met so far (actually shook hands and spoke with them):

    Howard Lederer
    John Bonetti
    Phil Hellmuth
    Antonio Es....
    Annie Duke
Scott Fischman (and he gave me some real cool personalized poker chips)
    David Williams
    Devilfish Ulliott
    Chris Moneymaker
    Russ Hamilton
    Lane Flack
    Marcel Luske
    Scotty Nguyen
    Mike Matesow
    Robert Williams III
    Chris Ferguson
    Eric Siedel
    John Vorhouse

Several of these guys (and gal) I have had a chance to talk to more than once or twice. David Williams is very nice, and Chris Moneymaker is a bit more subdued that when I last talked to him at the WSOP this year. He has also lost about 35 pounds. Eric Sidel struck me as very shy and seemed almost confused that I knew who he was. Howard Lederer seems very introverted, and every time I see him he is almost always by himself.

Tomarrow my wife and I are probably going to play a $25 re-buy tourney at one of the local casinos. This would be her very first live tourney. I have no idea what else I am going to do....maybe go for another $540?

Sounds like you had a great time. I enjoyed reading your posts. It's awesome when we can spend time doing something we have a passion for and include the family as well. Look forward to meeting you in Tunica.

      Glenn,

Fantastic job on the trip reports - you really did an outstanding job and we all are greatly appreciative.

Can't wait to read about the successes you will certainly have. You have a great attitude.
