    DEALER ACTION
A question was raised last night during one of our local poker league live game tournaments.

Can a dealer call out community card suits during a live play of Texas Hold'em?

I have it in my head that a dealer is permitted to call out card value but not the suits. However, I cannot verify where I got this information. I think it's up to players in the hand to establish the strength of their hand visually. Also, the dealer "must" place the cards out in order as they come off the deck following a burn card.
Question; Should community cards be placed in a line as in 3-1-1 formation?

    FYI:
The last time I found myself out there with my solo opinion,
I was right, this time I'm not so confident.
It was a question of the position of "HJ". The argument of position was "before" or "after" the cut-off I argued before and everyone else argued after the cut off.

    Can anyone please clarify and
if there is online info in support of this, many thanks.

    Cheers,
    BAD130Y

Hi BAD130Y! For the position question. The cutoff is to the right of the button, the hijack is to the right of the cutoff. As for the dealer, the dealer should not be calling out ANY board cards during play (no suits, no values). The only time they should announce a card is if one is mistakenly turned over and then they should announce the exact card (ex: 5 of diamonds) so the entire table knows what it is. What they should do is that once hands go to showdown, they should show or announce what the best hand is. For placing the board, the cards go in order in a straight line in the middle of the table. Good luck at the tables.umbup: John (JWK24)

The dealer not calling out cards partially falls under #12.... the cards speak for themselves.

There can, however, be local house rules that may differ. If so, these rules should be posted in the local poker room.
