  • Need Help from some canucks!!

    Hello there..

Ive got a day stop over in vancouver before heading home from whistler and i thought id try and play some live poker, so if anyone has any suggestions as to the best place to find a game/tourny in Van that would be awesome..

Also any recommendations for cheap accommodation would be appreciated..

    Cheers

You cant go wrong with Edgewater or RiverRock.

Riverrock has a decent nooner tourney but the tickets sell quickly and they dont reserve.
You cant get there by slytrain in stops right at the door..lol

ok Thanks, my plan atm is to see the canucks game on the evening of the 17th spend the 18th doing some touristy stuff and trying to get some poker in.. and then fly out on the 19th.. Thinking about staying at a hostel near where the canucks play.. but nothing set yet.. just trying to get an idea for what i should do etc..

Wow I need to watch what I type..lol
I meant to say you can get there by skytrain.

Check the schedule on the link for Edgewater its most likely your best bet if your staying DT and its right next to where the Canucks play.

Depends what you want to do.

Stanley Park -You can walk around the Seawall or check out the Aquarium.
Granville Island - You can walk across the bridge or get a sea ferry to check out this artsy market
Science world - Not a bad place to kill some time if you need to kill some time
Robson Street - Great place for people watching, only place in the area that has a Starbucks on either side of the street.
Gastown - Funky shops and pubs

Nightlife depends on music tastes and what your looking for.

Prob just trying to see a bit of the city.. on the way in i got a bus from the airport to whistler and promptly fell asleep.. haha but science world is fairly close by and sounds interesting so will def check that out.. and prob just walk the streets a bit.. Still tossing up whether to go out in the evening or not.. guess it will depend on the financial situation a bit.. haha

You can walk pretty much from one side of town to the other in 25-35 minutes.

The ferry to Granville island is more of a tourist thing, you can just walk across the bridge and check it out that way.

Hope you enjoy your stay. I always love a nice trip up Grouse Mountain when I'm on that end of the Lower Mainland. I love mountains. I don't know if you can hike up it this time of year, but you can take a gondola up and see some nice sights of the city if you make it a day trip.
