  • Two live UK events I'll be playing this year

The first is only 2 weeks from now (30 April - 1 May) this is a team event held at the G casino newcastle and it hosted but the newcastle poker forum I played last year and a great time was had by all. Our team has made final table the last two years but this year we have a much stonger team so if the card fairys are with us and the poker pixies stay clear we stand a good chance of beating off the locals and taking the title.

The second event is the one I'm really pulling for. The APAT(Amateur Poker Assosiation & Tour) world amateur poker championship held at Dusk till Dawn in notingham at the end of Aug. That same week same venue I have a good friend playing in the APAT World Team Championship as part of the Team Canada. Last year they took second place on their first showing pipped at the post by just 1 point by Team Wales so full credit to them.

Obviously I want to play the WSOPE in september but there is only so much money in my bank roll

Anyone interested in following this years NPF team challenge can follow the live stream on http://www.newcastlepoker.com/live/ the teams to watch out for are NPF - walkers sensations (current champs) the UK sharks(some good UK nataional players) and of course my team Nelly's heros (a bunch of drunks for our local pub league).

Of course if you happen to be in newcastle this weekend(30 April - 1 May) and aren't to busy getting over the royal wedding it would be great if you could get down to the G casino newcastle to give us some added rail support it's a good venue with some nice people

What a great weekend of poker some truly good players entered in this years event (along with some real loose cannons). Day one was filled with some of the most shocking plays I have ever seen with the pots routenly reaching 3k+ with even when the blinds where still only 25/50 but to counte this I also saw some truly impresive moves (even running into one or two myself). The true variance of poker was shown in all it's agonnising glory with Aces cracked more times than I care to mention and bad beat storys everywhere you turned. But always at this event a lot of respect was shown to all that played with very little trash talk which was nice. As for my own game what can I say. PSO thank you if not for your guidence I don't think I would have made it as far as I did. Coming out on the day 1 bubble finishing 31 of the 200 starting field (final 30 went on to day two) I'm very happy with my result I'd been drawing card dead for almost 6-8 hours and was hard work to say the least all I could do was grind away but that is all part of the greatest game. on a side note our team did cash out on both the side games at the event so we basicly had a fee weekend of good poker good food and even better company. I can't leave off without sharing my highlight hand of the torunament. I was new to the feature table and up against some of the best players of the weeknend (all of them good people) I am happy at how this hand played out I could have lost a lot of my stack here as I would have folded to almost any bet to on the flop and defenatly would have layed down to a cbet on the turn.
