  • delay to WSOP final table

If this has been discussed sorry for the repetition, just point me to the thread.

I didn't see this discussed in the forum at all and was wondering what people thought. On May 1, the WSOP announced the final table was going to be played in November and not at the 'end' of the tournament in July. This is being presumably so it can be played out live for boffo ratings.

I don't mind the concept of a delay, but 4 months!!! If I make the final table, I can tell you one thing, I'm studying my ass off those 4 months and working extra hard to improve my game. not that one shouldn't be doing that anyway, but one can focus on single table shootout strategy, one can study individual players, or seek out (or pay for) advice from people that play against your opponents.

I'm suprised that this was ok'd from the players committee, but I wonder if they feel this will actually give a bigger advantage to any pros that make the final table. For instance if The Mouth makes the final table, they can all beat the snot out of him ahead of time to get him to call down and play solid and not blow it again. (unfair comments to mike, but a dramatization). But I would think a pro would be able to make the most of the time off to get focused on the task, spar with some of the best in the world.

The amatures have a chance to improve their game more, but they still won't be world class in 4 months.

Any other thoughts on the issue?

I read the article and then looked closely at the source, convinced that was a prank story by The Onion. Alas.

No Limit final table at the 50K HORSE tournament....botching the color up big time....allowing the final table to rest up for 3 months, line up more sponsorship deals....What's next? Who's in charge here?
