  • WCOOP PLOHL8 Report Jeff85257

Well I got close to being in serious contention, but I'm out.

Here was the scenario... PokerStars Game #12266617134: Tournament #70000016,
$300+$20 Omaha 2 1/2 hours into the tourney,

I had an average stack, I was playing well, but not getting a lot of hands. I got as starters with a preflop raise, of $750 chips I had two callers. The flop came down as 6h 5d 6d, I decided to go for it thinking that only a 6 would beat me and these two probably had better hands that would not include a 6. One person folded the other one pushed me all in. Since I had top two pair, top flush draw and a good low, (I actually thought he was pushing on something like A23x) I decided to go for it.

He had Kd Kh 9s Qd and I just knew I had the winner. In fact according to my simulator I had:
a 92.68% chance of scooping after the flop. (he could not win low and really had no reason to call here other than his second best flush of diamonds)
If I had won that hand I'd have had $13000 chips and been in the top 20 for the tournament. But is wasn't to be.

He got a king on the turn for his FH and I couldn't even get a low. (63% chance of that after the flop)

    Complete report is below...

Tourney update: $320PLOHL8. 1536 players $95,000 first prize
I'm on a table with Mike Matusow.
Tools: I have Poker Tracker Omaha running. I have a simulator up and ready to use. Simulator is for post hand analysys only. I'm watching the Lobby for averages. I don't want to fall below the average if possible.

I almost lost everything on the 2nd hand. With $3000 starting chips, and a $40 win on the 1st hand, I came up with this hand.

I'm too embarrassed to admit I played this hand this way.

My post hand feelings... "I almost blew it and got lucky in the end" I'm not happy with myself. I should have folded on the flop and again at the turn. I was ready to fold on the turn, but the 7 got my attention and I started thinking, "My chance to get ahead" I only had a 43% chance after the turn. What was I thinking?

    30 minutes into the game.

I've only entered a few hands other than the first two I have not won any of them. All I folded or would have folded after the flop if anybody had bet. Mike Matusow is at $3145 and I'm at $5180 leader at my table.

40 minutes in Mike Matusow is eliminated when he stays for a draw to a low and a lower flush 7 high. No low came. Flush lost to higher flush.

Blinds currently 15/30 30 minute rounds

I'm getting bored already, not playing any hands. Then I got 2346 played a $150 post flop bet with 23K on the board. Not sure why. Folded later. A3 won the low and other player won the hi.

Played A2J7 flop came down A23, had to fold to a better. Down to $4820, average for tourney is $3331. 1382 remain.

At the first break I have $4760, average is 3370 1367 players.

Leader has $12,610. My table leader is $8006 ryanbluf and
    BadgerDawg both.

I do my first all in at 2:10 in. I have AK28. Flop comes AA5.
Everybody checks to me. I pot raise and have a re-raise by
UHBigTex. He has an ace, but I win hi and he takes low.

I've been losing small pots, almost all folded after the flop. I watched a QT hit the board, and a raiser pot raised it, so I folded by QT only to watch a Q hit on the river... rats. He had AA and I might have hit a big hand. at 2:40 I'm at $4868. I
peaked at $5500 so far this round. Leader is at my table with $16K.

Average $4K. So far in tourney only two big hands. One I won 2nd hand in, the other I split. Nothing else remarkable.

    Finally get a big hand.

Thought he would pay the $1K. But no.
    I'm up to 6393 average is 4185 1100 players.

Back to 4593 after I called a preflop raise that I probably should have folded. AsTh Kc7c and flop came with two hearts low and a queen. No idea why I called. He bet really big and I folded.

Down to $3843 after some small losses. Can't seem to get a flop.

Have had decent starters. Below average for very first time in the game. Average 4418.

Up to $4343 after I preflop raised with and one caller. No bets until the river then with this board, , I raised pot and he folded. I figured I had fold equity, he must have put me on AA or A2 at that time.

End of 2nd hour. 950 players left. Prize money starts at 225.
    I'm at: $4143
    Average is: $4860
    Leader has: $19,186
    Table leader has $16,743
Cards have been good for starters and bad for flops. I'm losing a lot on the limp or raise I make and then fold after the flop.

More of the same early in this hour. Below average now. Blinds at 75/150

I get a nice win on this hand...

    Bad Beat!
Finished 864th place and I'm really dissapointed. Not in me, but in the caller and the result. He had been playing solid all day and was the chip leader at our table. So I guess he thought I wasn't enough of a threat with my stack.

My first tournament over $100 entry fee, and I'd say I wouldn't change a lot the way I played. The only thing I would do different, was not call one preflop raise, that lost me $1000 chips later in the game. That was a mistake, I did not have the hand to call a monster. I had position, but he raised the pot after the flop and I did not have the hand to call. I'd probably play the last hand the same way every time.

I was a huge favorite in that hand and other than him having a 6, he should not have called me. I had a 76.39% chance of winning that hand preflop.
    I had a 63% chance of winning a low.
I had a 90.73% chance of winning hi with no low
I had a 92.68% chance of scooping. (he could not win low)
If I had won that hand I'd have had $13000 chips and been in the top 20 for the tournament. But is wasn't to be.
