  • Stake's Poker Diary Pt.1.

    http://www.pokerschoolonline.com/blogs/?idblog=1448

Good day to everyone, I'm Stakehorse75, and I've been at the PSO since September of 2010, and still haven't made a top 100 finish in the league.

I started playing poker when I used to travel to dog shows with my dad to promote our kennels and our dogs(Labrador Retrievers), around the age of 12. At the start, I was relegated to the Rummoli table with the wives of the guys my dad played with, but they soon shooed me over to the mens table when I took about $15.00 off all of them 1 night. Soon my dad was teaching me the basics of the "call your own game" style they played, and some of the rules, and strategies.

Moving on, I got to know how to play the"dealer calls the game" , playing everything from 7 or 9 inning( card) Baseball, to 5 card draw, a pot builder a lot of players know "Jacks or better", to Hi/Lo Chicago. We played everything. The first time I had heard anything about Texas hold'em was when my dad started dealing at a charity casino at a hall here in town in '95, but never took to the game until about 2004 or so when a friend asked me if I'd like to play at this guy's house in a tournament. My first hour in that tournament, I had no clue! But when I was down to $11(started with $500) started doubling up, and out of about 20 players, ended up in 5th, on the bubble, bitttersweet ending, seeings how my start. Within a few months the same guy started a league here in town, and I played in that for about 5 or 6 years, but missed the last couple because of work.
I've had some good success money wise in that league, usually profit from it a little bit, but the experience of playing evey style was good, as we had 18 players, and all different styles.

I came to this school, when I came to poker stars, and can honestly say that this is by far the best contribution community forum I've seen. When I first started online about 7 or 8 years ago, I went through a few forums, and site schools, trying to get some strategies on the game, but there are players here that have gone above the call of duty, some are mods, trainers and Hand analyzers, and some are just regular members like you and me.

In the weeks/months to come, I will share with you my hand histories(some winning, some losing), always feel free to comment, or ask questions, I don't bite, unless prevoked.. <.

We stopped breeding Labs, was too many in this area that were doing it for the wrong reasons, and creating a puppy mill setting. They didn't know who the father was, and we just decided to get out of it and the "kennel club" here in town. umbup:
