  • Hands that leave me laughing

It hard to understand how a great guy like me can be treated so badly by the ladies.  Pocket Qeens or any hand with a Queen it seems was fatal for me yesterday.  In the 1 pm tourney I was in 13th place with 32 players to go.  Player A who I know was shoving with weak Aces shoved, and got called by another player who thinks, 10 jack is a monster.  Well, there I sat with pocket queens.  I hesitated, because there was an all in an a call.  Plus I had just lost in the very early stage of the 3pm tourny when my Pocket Queen raise was called, flop ws three low cards, I made a nice bet, dude came over the top.  People, I knew I had him beat cause I saw what kind of hands he was playing.  Turns out he had AK off, no draws at all on the board, yet he decided with his A high to put me in.  I called and yep, he got an A on the river for the knockout.  So here I am with the decision of calling a raise and a call from two players that I was pretty sure I had beaten.  Ok, I made the call.  Again, we flopped low cards, one dude was all in preflop, other one had me covered, and decided to put me in.  Again, I am pretty sure I am ahead, they both like weak aces, or k j etc.  I figured, ok, I call and take this pot down, I am getting over 100,000 in chips and nearly a final table dpot locked up.  If I lose, hey, the points at that stage was still pretty good.  I made the call.  Both guys turned up A 5, A 3.  Well, guess what, the Ace came on the river, and there I went in 31st place.
Like I said, that's pretty good points and nothing to cry about.
Now in the 5:30 my Pocket Queens, yes the ladies once more for the third str8 tourney got me in troulbe.  This time, I should have fold when  I was reraised all in, but we are all stubborn, or in my case, stupid.  I just didnt want to believe that I was going to lose three str8 tournys with the exact same hand, so I called,  Dude had pocket KKs. I moved on to wait for the 8pm tourny.
Like a bad dream the Queens came back to haunt me again.  This time I am in a pot with AQ, I know, I know Norman Chad, you said it many times dont play AQ.  It was an unraised pot, I was in the BB so I played it.  Lo and behold, I flopped a set of Queens, what you got to say now Norman.  He was right, dude bets, I think I raised. He calls.  The turn card was a 9, no flush card, so I went in, or he put me in, not even sure, but river was a spade, dude had 10 8 of spades for the flush and there I went, me and my trip Queens.
At the 8pm, this time it's AQ again and I made aces and kings only to lose on the river to 10 8 of club this time which made the river flus.
10 Pm, my very first hand, you guesed it, pocket Queens. I said, you know what, no way in hell can they let me down again.  Points be damned, I want to see if there is a pocket Queens curse working against me.  I did what I never do, first hand of the tourny, I went all in. Got called by K3 off, can you belive that.  When a King came on the flop, I just about jumped out of my chair.  Luckily, a Q hit on th eturn for th etrips, and my first win all day with the dreaded pocket Queens.  Saga didnt end there be ause I got them again and lost on the river to yet another flush draw. This made me short stack so when I got yet another AQ and hit the Queen after limping on the BB, I went in only to be called by pocket 88s which had hit trips on the flop.
I always said that leos are Kings and should treat the ladies likeQueens, but after the day I had with Queens yesterday, I think that Queens are now my dead to me.  Next time I see them, I am running the other way.   I am making 23  suited my new best friend.

Anyone care to guess what hand I had when I was knocked out of the 10:00AM On 11/15 tourny.  Thats right.  Pocket Queens.  But this time was a bit different.  Had no chips 65 to be exact so my all in was an easy call for two players.  Flop was A Q 10.  Whopeeee, I hit trips, get me a nice triple up to about a 195 chips right.  Wrong.  Turn was Jack and one guy had K7 the other Ks. They got the str8 and I will keep cursing Pocket Queens.

Should I not have bet that flop because it was cordinated and had straight possibilities.  And once he reraised me all in, should I not have called.  I really need to know from the wiser heads in here because for the last week, I just have lost it.  Only three, in this entrie week did I get knocked out when I went into the blop behind. QQs versus KKs.  10 10 versus KK and J J versus AA.  Every other tournament for this entire week, I went in ahead only to get caught on the river. In all thta time, the worst hand that I was in with was the 10s.  Everythign else were QQs, twice toady with JJ and now this hand with the ACES.

What kind of hands should I now deem playable if the bigs pairs cant take the heat?

I am trying to my best to improve on my dismal finish from last month and with that in mind I am taking opening myself to advice from those of you who really know what you are doing.  I admitt that I am not that good at this game but at the same time I am willing to listen and learn.  These are three hands that I played recently and would love to get some feedback on what I did wrong with them.  I have heard some players say that they are willing to fold big pairs early and survive to get pass the first hour.  Is that the best way to go?

With this first hand, I had pocket ACES and decided to make a big enough raise so the table would know that I had a big hand.  I felt that with a big raise, seeing as how it was like only my second or third hand played it would send a strong message about my holdings.  I got two callers, and thats exactly what the two guys are, CALLERS.  The flop contained undercards and two diamonds so I shoved, hoping to drop anyone with a diamond draw, well as can be seen here, that didn't quite work.

My lost in that last hand left me pretty short so now I am playing with an eye towards finding hands that could help me chip up and get back in it. I found a pair of QQs and I should have ran away considering the luck I had with them at the end of last month.  But no, I decide to shove and , well take a look.   I had one call, and then another player dedcide to reraise and put the caller in.  The reraise had me and the other caller covered and to my surprise only had KQ off.  I like my chances all the way till the K hit. and knocked my out. In looking back I have to say my shove was out of a combination of caution, fear, and the desire to get something for what I felt was a stong hand.  I was looking to fold the table and run off with the blinds.  it didnt quite work out.

This hand is another example of me not listening to myself.  I was pretty deep in the 8:00 PM tourny and told myself to drop out of this one, the 10:00PM.  but no, I was greedy enough to try to get some points here too. I said I would play tight and only play premium hands because I was jumping from one tourny to another and wasn't investing the proper time to see how players at either table play. When playing I try to see what the others like to do to set myself up to play them and playing more than one table does interfere with this process.  Anyway I got KKs, and a player who I have labeled as fairly tight, shoved.  I gave it some thought and didn't believe he was holding Aces.  I felt that my KKs were good so I called.  Lo and behold another player, one who I have booked as a jacka -- , caller, fisherman, well he called too. when the cards were turned up, the original raiser had AK of, the jack-- had pocket 88s and me the KKs. Well take a look at how this turned out.

I think I am going start posting hands that I believe deserve a really good laugh.  These are hands which i think should really crack you up and remember it's only my opinion.  I think this kind of hand is funny and no one can tell me different.  So, if you agree with me, why don't you post your laughable hands.  You can even post ones that I played that made you laugh.

.Dude not just called half of his stack, but he actually reraised all in  running the risk that someone would cal him and knock him out.  You have to ask, did he care if he got busted or not.

Well here is another one.  Guess I now have to learn to walk away from KKs,

In this hand I was the first one in the pot with a pretty good starting had.  I decided to bring it in for a nice raise to hopefully just steal the blinds and chip up  a bit.  I hit the flop, top pair, top kicker and since there was a flush draw, I put in a nice size bet.  Dude chased his draw and got there on the turn. When he bet, I realized he got there and I was dead, and I guess I should have just fold it, but I was so disgusted, I just gave him the last $250

That one was kinds of in the realm of possiblities in as far as the holdings preflop. Granted, if he knew you were showing stong holdings, he should have known his JJ was behind and that shoving here wasn't necessarily a good move. I think the reason I am posting these hands is to highlight players to look for because they are making less than reasonable plays, so take a look at this other one.

This ie early and its the first hand I think I played. I had fold just about everything prior, so one should expect if I am not coming in for a raise, it would be with a pretty strong hand. Granted JJ isn't the optimum hand to play hard, but in the position I was in, who I was playing against and the previous action, I fetl a raise here with the JJs was a good move.
With the undercards on the flop and the guy making the bet, I was pretty sure that I was still way ahead and went in to shut him down, and out. Well he called and we can see what happened.

This is one from last night. This dude had shoved with q 9 suited before and other hands like that so when he raised, I am thinking that my hand is more than likely better than anything he is holding. I felt I had only two options, fold the AK suited, or shove on him with them. No way I fell that it would be a good play to just call him for that much then if I miss, fold to what I am pretty sure would be a contiuation bet on the flop regardless of what comes. So I shoved.
