  • Three chips and a chair...

I don't think I've ever been down to a single chip in an MTT,but this was close.

    I look down at pocket 66 - I have 23 chips.

But I have to pay a twenty chip ante.

So after a limp I shove my last 3 chips and flop a boat!

Picking up the 180 antes and 3 chips from each of the 5 players in the hand (VPiPs & blinds) I now have 195 chips - almost 2 big blinds.

I stick them in with a baby AceRag next hand - but I am dominated.

Both so raggy with our aces we chop the pot and I now have 3.4BBs

Next hand I get a 'proper' Ax - AQoff. I have to put in the BB anyway so the rest goes in of course.

    Another boat.

I now have a massive 11.9BBs, and I am looking at pocket sixes again in the small blind.

Well, obviously they are invincible, so I ship them over a limp - the BB folds and it is a race v KTo.

That hold takes the stack to 2,620 - room to be patient for an orbit until a real hand turns up.

Its JJ - and with the blinds at 100/200 and just 10BBs its an all-in preflop situation again.

The 3 chips I had earlier are now 6,000.

Sadly - not a proper 'chip and a chair story' as I did not go on to win the tourney - but I did make ITM.

Fantastic! I love that you only had 23 chips to start the first hand, but ended it with 195. Who knew pocket sixes could be so profitable?
Sick run, and destroys that pathetic conspiracy theory that I often hear about "big stacks being programmed to knock out the shorties".
