  • I'm sure this is a BAD BEAT

I don't think slow playing the flop would of changed anything. I'm sure he would of wanted to see at least the turn

    Yikes!

Absolutely nothing you can do there. Even with quads, no way they're going away after that flop, most likely.

You're a donkey for not getting this hand on a site that has a Bad Beat jackpot.

It wouldn't have qualified Mox. I play some of those BadBeatJackpot tables and the rules are both hole cards must be used by each player (check) and the losing hand has to be quad 8s or better. So quad 5s wouldn't have got him the prize there.

On another note one of my club members and friend did win the jackpot last year on a 100NLHE table(he had 6 tables up).

He folded pre to the raise before him as did everyone else but the two players involved. After some re-raises the flop came down 8xT. Well that sent them into a frenzy and after some raises it was all in ($200+ pot). Cards turn over and one has 88 and the other has TT. Turn came 8 and river came T.

        The pocket Ts got $139,000
        The pocket 8s got $209,000
And everyone else active (my friend included) got paid $45,000

Needless to say all he could do was watch himself sitout of all his tables and be closed while staring at his cash balance dazed and wondering "did that really just happen?"

I hope we all get to be in those shoes one day.
