that's too big of a raise preflop, with a hand that is marginal at best.

If you're going to shove, then wait until you see that you have top pair/top kicker on the flop... and shove the flop.

Shoving A 10 suited preflop, especially when you get 2 callers... you will very, very rarely have the best hand.

Gotta disagree with you on this one JW.

Holdem is severely short stacked here and needs to take some risks to get back into this game. If you look at the structure he's in here,it's roughly going to take 30K in chips to meet the average chip stack required to crack the top 480 that cash here,so he's gotta know he's way on the negative side of things on chips already. It's gamble time while he still has at least a little fold equity as well. I think anything LESS than a ship here is bad. His stack is push/fold period and as short as he is A10s is plenty good enough to be going with, outcome be Damned.

Even if holdem were only to say min-raise here pre-flop he's probably going broke in THIS case every time. There's no way he's ever going to be able to get a player who would call pre-flop for 15% of their stack with 107s to fold AFTER catching top pair on the flop if he plays this differently.

Say he bets to open pre and the villain follows. My guess is toomas leads out after the flop and holdem jams over top would be the most likely scenario here. He's still getting rivered.

Holdem I think you played this hand 100% correctly in the parameters you were facing here. However given the structure of this tourney (3000 starting chips) I think you would be well served to pull your HH for this one and examine the plays you made PRIOR to this hand that led you to be sitting on half the starting chips stack at Level VIII. This beat is a symptom of earlier mistakes,NOT the direct cause of your demise here.

And in a 6-Max tourney as short as you have allowed yourself to become here the ship is 100% the CORRECT play every time. So don't beat yourself up on THAT count at least.

DO look for mistakes you made prior to this.

Not saying that all your plays to get to the state your were in here are necessarily bad,but I can guaran--fricking-tee you that if you pull your HH and run some of those hands through pokertstove (it's an equity calculator,if you don't have it download it---NOW) then you WILL find some hands that you could have played better. Accepting that your game will ALWAYS have room for improvement is the only way anyone can ever improve.
