Wonder what all those numbers mean and how they are calculated?

The odds represent the probability of an event to happen as well as allow you to calculate how much you can win from your bet.

Odds can appear in different formats like, decimals, fraction or American, however, they are all based on the likelihood of an event happening, as well as give you the same returns for units.

How to read the odds and calculate your winnings?

On decimals, you simply need to multiply your stake by the odds, and you will have your returns with stake included. Example, $10 on odds 4, will give you back $40 when your selection wins.

Fractional odds allow you to calculate how much money you will win on your bet in comparison to you stake. The number on the left is how much you will win and the number on the right is how much you need to stake for that. Example, a $10 bet on odds 5/1 will return $60, profit of $50 and your stake back.

American odds indicate the returns relative to 100 units. American odds start with either a positive or negative sign (e.g. -200 or +200). A minus sign indicates a bookie’s favourite to win while a plus symbol indicates an underdog. A -250 favourite has a better chance of winning an event than a -150 favourite, while a +200 underdog has a better chance of winning than a +500 underdog. Example, a $10 bet on odds +150 would return $25, +$15 of profit and your stake back. However, if you bet the same $10 on a negative odd, -500 your return would be $12, meaning that your profit $2 is 1/5 of the unit.

Also note that odds will be constantly changing based on new information and updates about the event. It is also expected that odds on live events will change back and forth as the game progresses and probabilities change.

To make your life easier and allow you to place your bets without any hassle, we also give you the option to “Auto-accept a decrease in odds to speed up bet placement”. This option is located on your bet slip right below your selection. By ticking the box, your bet will be automatically accepted despite any odds changes that may occur during placement. You can also enable or disable this option directly on your Sports Preferences, by clicking on Account -> Sports.

On BetStars you can change the odds format with one click. From the Lobby of any sport simply, top right-hand side, you will see a drop-down box with the three options; you can also set your preferred odds type from the client by going to 'Tools' > 'Sports' > 'Sports Preferences'.

Want more value on your bets? We got you covered!
