This is my entry into the WBCOOP 2013 promotion

My best poker moment at Poker Stars had to be in August of 2010.   I played the $2, 1 rebuy and 1 add on tournament, which is held in the evening here in Canada.  It was one of my favourite tournaments to play before Black Friday hit, after which the Americans could not play any more (sad face).   The guarantees and payouts on the tournament have never equalled the level they reached before Black Friday, which makes me miss the good old days even more, lol.  Maybe someday it will be just as big as it used to be

I had only been playing on Poker Stars for about 2 years at the time, and was just getting my feet wet playing tournys that cost more than $.10 or $.25.  The rebuy seemed to have good value for the buy in, based on payouts at the time starting around $16, which is good even if you rebuy and add on (total invested is only $6.20).   It has a real nice structure that favours players who like the tight-aggressive game, with 15 minute blinds  and reasonable blind limit increases.  The only real drawback about the tournament was how long it took to cash it - on average about 4.25 to 4.5 hours.

I played it one Friday night, so I didn't have to get up early for work the next day.  It went well, I managed to get in the money with less than average stack, which was pretty typical for me back in those days.  Somehow I managed to build my stack after itm, and got myself up to a decent chip stack.  Then the patience came in, waiting for the right spot to shove with a monster hand, as I usually played in those days.   Well, it turned out to be my day, because I seemed to get the right cards when I needed it and chipped up nicely.

I starting having trouble keeping my eyes open when it got to be around 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning.  I was soooo tired, but I knew I had to try to stay awake, because this could be a good one, I thought.  Was thinking maybe I could make $100 or so at the time.  I ended up turning on the radio and opening up the window to get some fresh air, to stay awake.  Honestly though, I know I nodded off a couple of times here and there though, hehe.   My perseverance paid off, though, and I managed to make the final table - that really woke me up.  I think it took about 90 minutes to get through the mix, but I managed to finish 3rd for a nice payday of $655 from an investment of $6.20.  It took about 8.5 hours in total to play, which was the longest I had ever played before.  Very exciting but also kinda gruelling - it taught me that you need to make sure you are well rested if you are going to play a long MTT - I won't ever let myself 'fall asleep' again when playing (kinda made me wonder if I could have won it, if I had not been fatigued).   A good experience, with a good payday - I learned alot.
