Been awhile sinced I last blogged so I figured it was time. Been under the "pressure" to bust into the top ten. Ranked 11th as of this morning so the chance is there for me at least to win this thing still. But as for a tip for anyone who bothers to read these blogs, I have a good one for today. Avoid going all-in unless you are short stacked. Remember that this league is about survival. Everytime you put all your chips in the pot, you risk them all going to someone else and being eliminated. Donkeys and Maniacs love this play and are more than happy to gamble with any two cards preflop. And if you think hands like AA and KK can't be beaten by hands like 63, then you haven't been on this site long enough. Sure you should win with AA. But many times you won't. So avoid flipping a coin for your tournament life. Save the all-in for when you have the best hand. Maniacs are still likely to call you down and then you get your payoff. Or when you get short stacked and the blinds are going to swallow you, sometimes you just have to push what you have left and hope you win the coin toss. Seems like a common sense tip but I am always amazed at how many people still push all-in preflop when the blinds are 20/10 or 30/15. Bad poker playing will end in bad results sooner or later. Good luck to everyone in the last days of August moving up the ladder. As for me, it is time to make my name one that is mentioned in the forums! More to come later......
