Alright before I continue on with tips to place well in this league I must vent. I just finished about 750th in the 3pm tourney. Not a typical finish for me by any means. What could cause this odd finish by the guy who claims to have all the answers. Well, I went against my own strategy. I couldn't resist the temptation this time. I was in the big blind and was dealt AA. Blinds were 100/50. Someone raised 300. I decided to push as this was a great chance to steal that raise. But he called my all-in. He had AJ. Wow. What luck. His ace is all but worthless and the jack couldn't be an issue to me right? Wrong. He got a jack on the flop and wouldn't you know it he got another jack on the river. And I am done. Anyone who defends this site and the "randomness" of the cards is horribly misguided. This site typically gives cards to whoever is in each hand to force action. Even when the best hand does win it is usually not without a scare that doesn't end until the river card gets flipped up and a sigh of relief can be breathed. People who say Pokerstars doesn't care who wins ARE correct. They don't care who wins as long as action is forced. Even in the example I just gave, if I hadn't pushed all-in preflop, I certainly would have been all-in after the turn. And my opponent would have called as he had top pair on the board and an ace kicker. Forced action. That is what this site is all about. Not what I meant to discuss in my blog today but hard to resist after that debacle. More to come about tourney strategies later......
