Poker is a very democratic  and meritocratic game and society, but it can also be an old boys club.  And, online (OL), it can be very difficult to tell where you stand among your tablemates.  The chat part of poker becomes very important, both as participant and as  observer, .But, chat is very different OL.... But, im gettin ahead of myself...
     Back to the existential nature of poker first.  And, i would like to limit my comments to FreeRollTourneys(FRTs), the most democratic of all games.  You don't even need to know how to play them, just how to enter; can't get more democratic than that.  Remember that, it's vitally important early on: i sometimes let my niece (2 1/2 yrs old) choose whether to play a hand or not, she likes hearts and paint, and she does pretty good.  democratic, small d    ill post more soon, but im hungry
