I have been reading a lot on blogs about all the "shove monkeys" and ways to limit their influence - like limiting the league to only those who have a certain point total after the 15th of the month, or the last week of the month.  I am a White Star player.  I am not very good but want to get better.  I have real $ accounts on other smaller sites but not here.  I do okay, but poker is not my life, it is a hobby that I do for recreation.  My style is probably closest to tight aggressive and I find myself just as frustrated as a lot of the so-called good players with the shove monkeys.  I wind up limiting my range of starting hands at the beginning of each tourney because of the unpredictability of the players.  Doing that I run the risk of up blinding off a couple of thousand chips by getting into pots only to have someone shove or make a wild raise and I fold.  Sooner or later you have to make a stand with a high pair like JJ or QQ, or AK, AQ, AJ, and A 10; not the best, but when you blind off chips it gets to a point where you have very little choice.  Any advice here would be greatly appreciated. I understand about patience but that can get you into a bad place with your  stack.  I have not done well lately - just look at my ranking!  But I don't consider myself a shove monkey or a donk, just someone trying to get better.   I had hoped that the PSO would be  a way to do that, but lately there seems to be a lot of better players putting down those of us who aren't there yet on the blogs.  I understand that people want to play well and I also understand the frustration of all the crap that goes on here.  I would never dump chips for a couple of bucks or collude with anyone to that purpose (unless of course we're talking about big bucks) - just kidding!.  I want to improve and thought this league would be a way to do that - now I am not so sure.  You are either a donk or a good player - and the good players (not all of them, but it appears that a lot of those who regularly blog) look down on everyone else.  Elitist attitudes don't help.  So, how the heck do I get better.  I guess I have rambled enough and I don't know if anyone will respond to this, but I had to get it out.
