Here we go with part 2 of my little Christmas trip report from Las Vegas:

As already mentioned our plans for Christmas Eve included a reservation at "The Steakhouse" at Circus Circus and tickets for the 7pm show of "KA" at MGM Grand.

One would not suspect a great restaurant like "The Steakhouse" to be found at such an old, worn-out and remote casino like Circus Circus, but we were pleasantly surprised by how good the service and our filet mignons actually were. Now I know why this place had been recommended to me from so many different people.

"KA" was really breathtaking, don't want to spoil too much but I have to admit that it got me hooked quite easily even though I'm not a big fan of shows, musicals and such. All in all both made up for a great Christmas Eve experience!

On Christmas Day we decided to do another short road trip to the nearby "Valley of Fire" state park. Weather was awesome again and it took us no more than 1 hour out of Las Vegas to get there:

We drove most of the scenic routes and hiked or climbed wherever we liked it the most:

Maybe I should turn climbing into a new hobby, makes for some great balance to sitting at a poker table or in front of the computer all day.

We did another shopping tour to the Premium Outlets in Primm which is about 30 miles from Vegas in the middle of the desert. Binged on my airmax 1 addiction and invested 40 bucks in another pair for my collection, seems like the motto on this shirt didn't fail to have its effect on me:

After paying a visit to the movie theatre at the Southpoint Hotel & Casino we made a final day trip to Death Valley.

Although we had already been there in the summer we wanted to visit points we stayed away from that time due to the high temperatures. With moderate temperatures at around 60°F in the winter we could explore the different areas like Badwater Basin (lowest point in the US with 85m below sea level), artist's drive with it's colorful desert mountains or enjoy "Dante's View":

Unfortunately I didn't get to play too much poker, had only short sessions and lost a fair bit in most of them. The trip didn't pay off for my bankroll but it did for all the experiences we had. To wrap up my report here's a little tour of our little suite at the Vdara:

We're already back home now trying to take care of jetlag (taking Melatonin has helped this time). Tomorrow we will be celebrating New Year's Eve with friends I will start grinding it up in 2014 after that.

Happy new year everyone and all the best to you in 2014!
