It’s the first week of a new month and that means we can take a look back at some of the winners of the PokerStars poker school’s monthly skill leagues for May. Every month the schools host three separate leagues with over $44,000 in total prize money up for grabs each and every month.

The Open League as the name would suggest is open to all PokerStars players and everyone is welcome to participate. These highly competitive freerolls are available six times a day in the client with players from every corner of the globe taking part. With every tournament you play you will accumulate points toward the monthly leader board with a chance to win a top prize of $1,500! Congratulations to Russian player ‘Enil Genius’ for doing just that and topping the Open League leader board for May.

Players that run really hot in the Open League during any month have the chance to qualify for the following Month’s Premier Skill League. This is the big one, where you’ll mix it at the tables with the best of the best. These premier events are by invitation only and take place four times a day in the client. How do you get an invitation to the Premier League you may ask? Well, you have to earn your ticket to this league either by finishing in the top 500 of the previous month’s Open League or by finishing in the top 200 of the Qualifier League. Players that are already in the Premier League must ensure that they finish in the top 800 each month to retain their premier status. If they don’t they get relegated back to the Open League and they must climb that ladder again.

Retaining Premier League status is one thing, but winning the Premier League in a Month is a totally different ball game, or should we say poker game, entirely. It takes devotion to the cause, endless hours of commitment, and an unflinching desire to become the best of the best to win the Premier League.  So is the cost worth the reward? Well we probably should ask ‘KOCKAPOKER’ from Hungary who topped the Premier League for May and pocketed a cool $5,000 as a result. I think we can all agree that’s a great boost to anyone’s bankroll.

So to get involved in these league tournaments check out your PokerStars poker school for more information and climb that mountain to success this month, it could be you!
