More than €25.6m was awarded to players at last year’s EPT Barcelona Poker Festival, with a total of 18,038 tournament entries spread across 4,596 unique players. The Season 12 curtain-raiser returns to Barcelona in two weeks with a massive 71-tournament schedule from August 18-30. Highlights include a €50,000 Super High Roller, €25,500 Single Day High Roller, €10,300 High Roller, €5,300 EPT Main Event and €1,100 Estrellas Main Event.

The maximum first prize now available in the new $100 buy-in Spin & Go’s, introduced last week on PokerStars. With a max multiplier of 3000x, it equates to a top first prize of $300k and a total prize pool of $360k, with second and third place receiving consolation prizes of $30k each, too.

First prize won by the latest PokerStars Sunday Million champion ‘DonLinnet’ from Denmark. The player topped a field of 5,704 to take the biggest share of a $1,140,800 prize pool.

Top prize won by Super Tuesday champion Govert ‘montecarlo13’ Metaal. UK pro JP ‘MrBarrett82’ Kelly came second to win $75,880. A total of 542 players generated a prize pool of $542,000, which easily surpassed the $400,000 guarantee.

Number of PokerStars players that have already qualified for the PokerStars Mega Bonus promotion. Throughout the first three weeks of August, PokerStars is offering a free Mega Bonus reward when a player makes a deposit of $25 (£15/€22/ CAD $30) or more into their account. The rewards vary from a $100,000 All-in Shootout ticket to $100,000 in cash. The final day to qualify is August 23.

Percent of tournament proceeds that was donated to Valley Children’s Hospital in California as part of the ‘Let California Play’ PokerStars Pro Tour, which was held at the 500 Club Casino in Clovis, California, in the past week. Team PokerStars Pros, including Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moneymaker, Vanessa Selbst, Liv Boeree and Jason Somerville, have been visiting cardrooms and casinos throughout California in a bid to raise awareness and support for legislation to authorise and regulate online poker in California.

Players have now qualified for the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) $5,200 Main Event through the Mega Path satellites, including five who started at Round 1. Those five players entered for a combined total of just 141 Frequent Player Points, winning a total of $26,000 in WCOOP Main Event seats. With a month to go until the start of WCOOP, plenty more players are expected to qualify via the Mega Path with qualifiers running around the clock. The World Championship begins on September 6 with the Main Event set to take place on September 27.

Exclusive previews of a new PokerStars advertising campaign launched on Facebook starring PokerStars’ new ambassadors, world football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr. The short films were produced by highly sought-after filmmaker, Vaughan Arnell, and were aired on the two sport stars’ personal Facebook pages on Saturday. They are also now available to view on YouTube and will receive their global television debuts later this month.
