Hi People, this is my first blog of the year, I have been very busy with self analysis, trying to figure out how to make the best plan of action/goal setting for my poker play in 2014.

As some of you already have seen, I have won the Time Vault promotion by Poker School Online for the year of 2013. It was a whole year project in which PSO members submit their plans and publish the developments along the year. It was a FANTASTIC project, since it made me, and many of you, be very aware of our actions, study and support each other along the way.

Part of the prize included a private coaching session, so I am waiting for that to discuss with the coach my plan of action for 2014, according to my skill level and bankroll level, before I go on with it. In the meantime, I am analysing my play, learning better to set up filters and HUDs in PokerTracker 4, observing my own behaviour and tendencies in the last 10 or 20 tourneys I played. In the process of looking for good ways to do it, I came across this post by ForrestFive in the software session, and went on researching for a good way to record the sessions, apart from the HUD.

With PokerTracker 4 you can already analyse your hands very well with view stats>my reports>New report>hand report but I have been looking for a free method of recording the game real time.

Google hangouts is a fantastic, free tool to record something happening on your computer! I performed a test yesterday, played a 50c 180 man and recorded it. It's for my own use, with the purpose of  watching the video later, for self-analysis. I played for about an hour, it's all recorded. I finished 14th out of 180. I also tried to record my thought process by speaking my decisions out loud. I think the tool is originally meant for group conversations on video, or lessons performed real time, but you can create a hangout with only yourself and make the video, that gets automatically recorded on YouTube, private. Later you can even download the video from YouTube using a download software and then have the video on your PC, deleting it from your YouTube account, if you want.

Here is how it works:

1- A Google+ account and a YouTube account are needed.

2- Create the hangout, it creates a video on YouTube automatically, recording action from your desktop, a whole screen or a window of a software which is running, in this case just the table where you're playing. It won't record it as you see it, with the HUD info, but it will record the tournament. It's no different then watching a table on Pokerstars, only it's being recorded.

3- The video will be saved on YouTube after you finish. You can make it private if you didn't already. You can also save it to your pc and then delete it after it's downloaded.

4- For a detailed, step-by-step tutorial on how to do this, I found this interesting blog post, meant for educators.

5- I do not recommend making your video public, I think using Boom or the hand re-player within PSO is better for the purpose of sharing your play with other people publicly, because it respects the privacy of the opponents. I think it's nice to keep that information to yourself and to your coaches and not to anyone on YouTube.

This beginning of the year I have played only about 20 SNG tourneys, really nothing, I mean to be playing at least 20 per day in the coming months. But first I need to stablish some guidelines in strategy  and a free tool like this is very handy.

I hope you find this post informative and wish you good luck at the tables!
