OK, well here we are in the Year 2016.  It just blows the mind really.

I remember when the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey came out, how marvelous and amazing the future will be.  Here we are, now 15 years past that point and not much has changed over the years.

Man's progress has been slow, limited, and even in some areas, have gone backwards.

However, we should not be looking back on the past but to look towards the here and now as well as the future.

Today I want to talk about two different subjects.  The 1st being my goals for 2016. Secondly, I would like to talk about the changes with PokerStars and the VPP/StarCoins changes.

Of course my goals have to include the changes in what PokerStars is rewarding the players with.  I am still not 100% clear on the rewarding of the steps and the coins.  As far as I can see, each Tournement game is still being rewarded in VPP's as well as Cash games.  As a Chrome player, I seem to still have to get at least 100 VPP's each month to continue as a Chrome player.  So where do the steps come in?

Anyways, that put aside for now, I realised that I'm going to have to play more Cash/Zoom game than I have played before to help me meet my monthly goals.  I have started to play in the $.05/.10 level Zoom and Cash games and I see that I can gain the needed VPP's faster at this level then the other lower levels.  But although I have had some success at this level, I have to be very careful of how I play.  You can built up your starting chip amount very quickly in this level, but then, you can lose it just as quickly.  In my first game, I had doubled my starting stack within a couple of hands. However, it only took a few hands to lose a part of that gain I had.  One of the things that I had noticed when playing this level, was the lack of players doing 'Donk' bets, shoving pre-flop just to get those 3 - 5 cents in chips.

Now I'm not saying that no one was doing large betting or raising or re-raising.  Yes of course this was happening, but it seemed to be more controlled, with it being 4, 5 BB's and generally after the flop.

So I'm looking forward to my 2016 progress in the Cash/Zoom games, and see how I develop in this area and this new level.

So it's time to talk about the Changes with PokerStars in 2016 with the StarCoins replacing the VPP/FPP's and some of the other changes that have happen.

We knew well in advance of the changes that PokerStars was going to make and that we would be going to a step program.  So this is not a surprize.  We all have seen much debate going on about this and many people have stated that they would not be apart of PokerStars because of it.  We even have seen 1 Pro leave because of the chances.

As for me, I've been trying to find out what the steps are and are these steps a montly step, or something different?  In the information available, it seems like there are 20 steps for a Chrome player.  So how does this break down for the year?  How many VPP/FPP's are required to make that step?

I guess this (hopefully) will become clearer as we get alittle further into the new year and the step program reveals itself.

The one thing that I did notice was the disappearance of the $100K Privilege ChromeStar game.  This was a free game for all ChromeStar players.  It was one of the few benefits of getting to the Chrome level.

Now, PokerStars have a varity of game and tournement tickets that you can buy with your coins.  Nothing Free and each ticket is at even value. I.E. A $1.10 Tournement ticket cost 1100 coins. To me, this is very disappointing.

Oh well, the game must go on and I and everyone else will in time adjust to these changes.

The only thing I would like to know, is: Why take away the only benefit that a Chrome player had?

Good Luck on the tables everyone.
